Author Notes/Disclaimers/Betas As ever, to my beloved [info]perfica and Team Capitan extraordinaire [info]joanwilder, heartfelt gratitude for their excellent beta work. To [info]perverse_idyll, more heartfelt gratitude for letting me scream and screaming with me, and for moral support above and beyond. Additionally, I owe a debt to Granada Television, the late Jeremy Brett, David Burke, Edward Hardwicke, Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson for keeping me sane during the process. And last, but definitely not least, to the [info]snarry_games mods, massive thanks for your patience again and your willingness to extend my deadline to the outer limits. The characters in this fic belong to JK Rowling and her various business associates and not to me. Lyrics quoted are from Carrickfergus (trad. music of unknown author), and Like A Prayer (words and music by Madonna and Patrick Leonard)

Summary: Harry's having nightmares, blurting out rude things, causing trauma, generally behaving badly, and thinks he may be going mad.

Wow! Where to start? When I saw that this was your fic and noted the size of it I knew it would be a long night. Sleep?...Snarry?...Sleep?...Snarry? Sleep is overrated. To say that I loved this seems so redundant but I don't know how else to say it. Your Snape and Harry were so IC. I adored the way you crafted their thoughts. The slow development of their relationship was tender and agonizing at the same time. Your writing is so adept at making the reader really feel the emotion of the characters. Harry's desperation in Snape's crypt killed me. When I got to that point I kept thinking "please don't do this to me" and I had to scroll up and read the warnings again just to reassure myself. The ending was such a relief, but damn it I wanted to see some hard and heavy corporeal sex to seal the deal (I am a slut I know). And speaking of sluts, when Harry spouted off Snape's thoughts to Ginny I laughed so hard I woke up the husband and the dog. Bravo! Brilliant! Wonderful! Okay, I'm shutting up now.

It was almost excruciating to watch Harry unravel, even though I suspected this wasn't his 'lil inner critic chattin' him up. Great job of transitioning those words in his noggin from just thoughts, to paraphrased snippets, to parroting the actual words. Both funny and painful to see how his words affected his friends.

Rumplety reminded me a lot of Vernon, and it was fitting that Harry's realization of whom that voice belonged to should come after a potions accident. Snape is so present, so real, so himself, that I found myself forgetting that his body was absent. You distilled the essence of him—his choice of words, his sarcasm and cynicism—all of it a reminder that it's what's on the inside that makes the person, not what we see with our eyes. I really loved the italicized scene break segments—the stuff of Harry's dreams— that gave us glimpses of Snape too. Some of them just plain took my breath away.

I became addicted to Snape and Harry's inner dialogue—couldn't get enough of it! From hilarious to poignant to painfully honest and self-revealing in a heartbeat. Snape rummaging in Harry's mind, bringing up questions about his sexuality, their little 'experiments' on that matter (Snape was a bastard, all right), the discovery of the rite, McGonagall's conversion, Snape starting to fade, Harry's desperation, right to the end where it'd seemed that Harry'd failed—all of it so well done!

I laughed at the ending. Fucking perfect! I always love your fics, Loup, but this is one of my top two favorites. What a great story, and you nailed that genre and prompts so well, Snitch!

You know I think this is a-freaking-mazing. This is one of your best (and I'm not just saying that because I beta-read it). It was tight, engrossing and all 'round a fantastic read.

Mmm, *nice*. Nearly every line from Snape had me laughing, even though his horrible relationship with Harry was painful to read all the way up until they finally started to get along. Minerva's intervention was a wonderful scene as well as a turning point, and I liked how after that Harry began to have a bit of parity. Snape's starting to fade was so poignant - another turning point, and a great set-up for the twist ending.

Your Minerva was fabulous, the other characters so nice to see, including Dumbledore, dropping oblique hints as always! And OMG, some of those lines of Snape's are so totally what fans may have been wanting to blurt out for ages, lol.

I stayed up too late with this fic to be making much sense, but I wasn't about to stop reading! I loved the whole long ending, when Harry finally got his courage up to go to the crypt, and Hermione had apparently found the right spell, and then OMG, his sorrow at the lack of results. I was crushed! Thanks for not leaving it there! That would have been a good story, too, but I was rooting for the happier ending.

Now I'm visualizing the two of them on their travels, bickering like the arrested adolescents they are, and both finally becoming the people they can be. You really made this pair come to fit together in a logical and natural way, and I love this fic so much for that especially.

That very last line of Snape's is so funny. Yep, two adolescents. Hopefully Snape will never realize how much he sounds like a Marauder...

Absolutely magnificent work! I love the plot and all the details. You hit Snape's voice/personality dead on and I must admit that Harry talking with Snape is rather amusing too, lol. I love how Harry slowly figured out what was going on with his behavior and how close he and Snape became during Snape's stint in Harry's head. The ending was perfect. Very, very well done!~Sophia

Spectacular. I absolutely loved Snape's voice, tormenting Harry, causing him to speak out of turn, and eventually, finally the two of them coming to understand one another better than anyone has ever understood either of them. I was terribly amused by the horrible things Harry said, by McGonagall. And truthfully, I really wasn't sure whether you would allow Severus to return for good and then whether he would stay once he did. Wonderful work!

Excellent story! And what a brilliant plot!

I second joanwilder, your Severus was so real, you could actually feel his presence and forget that his body was temporarily absent. I loved his witty and sarcastic remarks, I loved absolutely everything about this fic! The ending was great and funny and sooo... perfect. Yeah, there is no other word to describe it. It was truly perfect :)

Thank you so much for sharing with us this marvellous work. It was a pleasure to read it :)

How IN THE WORLD did you make me go from crying my eyes out to laughing out loud at the last line -i n such a short span of time? Wow...just wow.

I'm another one who agrees with joanwilder - she said it perfectly. I could both literally feel Harry unravel as well as practically feel Snape's physical presence when it wasn't ever there, that's how brilliantly you crafted your story. Without a doubt, this fic will stick with me for the rest of the day and longer.

*deliriously happy you're on Team Snitch*

This is an incredible story. It is so entirely unique and I was utterly caught up in it. The whole mental health conflict had me worried for Harry and feeling for him. I was so relieved when Minerva finally believed him. I was half convinced Harry would end up in an institution. The slowly growing relationship between Harry and Severus inside his own mind was just... wow. Different and very hot in a truly weird way. Then, you had me truly convinced Severus was done for at the end. I was very happy with how you ended it... thanks for not angsting it! I really loved this!! Great story and concept!

As with all your other writings, you held me enthralled, captivated and thoroughly contented while reading this story. Of all things wonderful, this is by far your greatest achievement. Remarkable, elegant, and crafted and polished with great skill, I am certain this will be widely valued as a model Snarry.

Stayed up until 1:53 a.m. to finish--compelled to read it all, right to the end. Admire your delicate touch with the growing strength and coherence of Severus' distinctive voice (counterbalanced by the chaotic images brewed up in the nightmares). Love the ending, with Harry literally tripping over (naked) love on his very own doorstep. Quite wonderful.

OH MY POOR HEART. This fic completely shattered me, but was so quick to put it back together I'm almost shaking.

Brilliant. Absolutely BRILLIANT. Your Snape voice was wonderful, and Harry being both Harry and not at the same time was painful to read but extremely well done at the same time.

This was so well worth staying up until 4am reading.

Kay, I'm back.

This was so fantastic. SO. I always love your fics and this is definitely one of my faourites. There's so many things to say, I don't really know where to start. The title is brilliant; when I was finished reading and saw the title again I laughed out loud. So clever. I love the interactions between Snape and Harry - no one can write snark like you can! And OH god, some of the things Harry said - to Mrs. Weasley! - lord, I was so uncomfortable. I thought he was done for.

Your plot was just ingenious (I loved the spell) and I loved the scene where Minerva figures out Harry is telling the truth. So clever, and you write Minerva so well (whom I love). One of favourite scenes ever.

And the sex was genius. So hot and frustrated. I wondered how there was going to be any smut in this fic, but you found a way. And I thank you for it! Boy, do I...

The ending was perfect. Still IC, and still room for a happy ending. This is one of the best post-DH fics I've read! Brilliant work.
Yay Snitches!

Oh yes, this was excellent! I love your Snape, so irritable, clever, acerbic, bitter, harsh, loyal - so SNAPE even without the nose or the hair or the billowing robes. So heart-in-the-mouth when Harry thought he'd lost Snape and so glad when he came back, and the ending was wonderful.

Yay - Holmes and Watson FTW! Well done, fellow Snitch!
