1. Gender Bender and/or Crossdressing:
It's time to turn gender roles on its ear with this option. Have you been hankering to explore a scenario where one or both of our heroes are female? Trans? Genderqueer?
How about still very male, but with a penchant for cross-dressing? Victoria's Secret under those robes?
The choice is up to you, but this category will certainly turn some heads!
2. Fandom Crossovers and/or Fusions:
Crossover: Ever wondered what would happen if Snape and Harry were to land in the universe of another fandom? Or if the characters from another fandom were to happen upon our heroes from Hogwarts? Have you ever imagined Sam and Dean hunting Voldemort, and what Snape and Harry might have to say about the brothers Winchester? Do you harbour fantasies of an encounter between our boys and the Doctor and his TARDIS? Then this category is for you!
Fusion: Ever picture Snape and Harry actually *as* Light and L in the Death Note universe? Merlin and Arthur? Basil Fawlty and Manuel? Now's your chance to explore the old with the new! If you want more than just a crossover, you want to merge our boys into a new universe, this is the genre to do it!
3. Time Travel:
What if being caught up in the destruction of the Time Room in the Department of Mysteries had other, unforeseen consequences and effects? Would changing the past – or the future! – make things better? Or worse? Anything is possible with a little imagination and a handy time travel device - and there are many available in the Harry Potter Universe, or you can invent your own! You can run wild with this category, and use it in conjunction with the other genres, such as our next one:
4. Literary and/or Historical:
Severus, Severus! Wherefore art thou, Severus? Perhaps the backdrop of WWII or the Battle of Hastings is more your style? Snape as the diabolical Sheriff of Nottingham and Harry as that do-gooder Robin Hood? Knights of the Round Table? Revolutionary and Loyalist in Civil War America? Barbary pirates or Caesar and Antony?
This genre is essentially AR (Alternate Reality), but with a twist: You can choose to set your entry in a specific (real life) historical setting or fashion, or in a published fictional (literary) setting or fashion. Your header should give hints to what you have done, if you choose this category.
The vaults of human (or magical) history – real and fictional – are flung open wide for your perusal and employment. This genre is limitless, and can also be paired with any of the previous choices for a double-whammy of genre votes!
5. Alive & Kicking (or Snape EWE):
This genre needs no explanation for those who would choose a more traditional exploration of post-Deathly Hallows scenarios. For all intents and purposes, the line "... and Snape moved no more." has been stricken from the record.
No body, no portrait, no death.
This is how we see it. Let us also say that those who have underestimated the resources and cunning of Severus Snape have usually come to regret it.
6. Mentor and/or Severitus:
"Mentor" means a wise and trusted counselor or teacher. This genre traditionally explores the option of Snape choosing to put aside his grievances and openly guide Harry through training to defeat his enemy rather than estrange him. But there's no rule saying that Harry can't do the same for Snape in a future scenario. Turn tradition on it's ear!
"Severitus" is defined here *Hover/Click for Definition of Severitus. We will be linking this one for the voters! Always wanted to write a true Severitus? Now's your chance!
