Yeah, I still totally adore this. Deceptively simple, and quite wonderful.

The black and white and starkness and the composition in the trenches are simply beautiful.

So awesome. I realise people may be having a hard time getting this, but the wartime reference is so absolutely spot on. I only learnt it recently, whilst researching for questions I did, but it's an image that stood out in my mind too, and I desperately wanted to write it. I'm thinking of slipping it in sidewards to my Postwar fic. *purr*

This picture is just awesome. I love the angle you've chosen on it especially. I think it captures the mood well.

That is so elegant. I was amazed when I saw it back on the community, and I'm still amazed now. The balance between the black and white is wondeful, as well as the balance between shades defined by gradients and shape defined by line.

I keep coming back to elegant to describe this because it just seems to fit best. Nice job!

Lovely shading and an intriguing concept for wartime.

I love the composition and your choice to make the piece monochromatic - it fits in well with the historical images that most of us have of WWI.

Your choice to use the white feather is intriguing, given the widely conflicting meanings that it held in that era. I'm glad that you referenced "White Feather Fallopian," since it gave me a context to understand that you were embracing all of the negative as well as positive connotations of the symbol. Quite interesting, especially when you think of the significance of Snape's anger at being called a coward.

The only 'white feather' I'm familiar with would be of a dove, for peace, so I don't quite understand the significance. *runs off to google*

Regardless, its a lovely pic. I love the barbed wire, next to the Dark Mark. I love black and white art.

YES. OMFG this is so much for the win, I wish I could vote! *dances in one place* I forgot to mention the last time I gushed madly, was how fantastic I found the lighting as well. You make the b&w wash look so simple and random, but this kind of shading always takes innate talent and forethought to accomplish, and you accomplished it in spades.

I am totally wanting to own a print of this! *eee*

Wow, this is really quite amazing. I love the balance of black and white and the contrast between sharply defined and shofter-edged objects. It seems fitting. I also love all the WWI touches: the barbed wire, the helmets, the jackets, the trenches. Despite the war raging outside, there's a strange sort of serenity around Harry and Severus.

Most of all, I love the feathers and how very many things they imply, all at the same time. Severus is certainly the ideal candidate for exploring all those meanings!

Beautiful, touching picture. I love the WWI references, the dark mark in the sky and it being in Black and White, I really don't think it would have been as striking in colour.

Wow, what a great idea for an AU! This is simply beautiful and the b&w really adds to the mood. I love how it looks simple and quiet but it's impressive and powerful. :-) Wonderful work!

I like the starkness of the black and white and the shading is well done. It took me a minute to figure out where they were, but I eventually realized they were in trenches.

Snape's facial expression is the best. He looks so serene amongst the chaos.

Awesome. I love the black-and-white. It fits the hopelessness in the trenches. I love their expressions, and the tenderness of the scene. Brilliant idea for an AU.

Oh, how beautiful--the use of black-and-white and shading is perfect, and I love the pure white starkness of the feathers! Snape's tiny smile really gets to me. Lovely.
