2007 Art Games Frequently Asked Questions and Community Rules.
We would like to thank the following artists for their participation in this year's Games, and we wish them good luck:

Deadlines, FAQs, Rules and Voting
The Snarry Summer ART Games will officially begin posting on October 8, 2007 (North America).
The posting order will be RANDOM, and due to Team size, four times daily. That's two posts per team, per day for those at home keeping track. It will be a veritable Snarry Feast of art, as we are anticipating 72 entries. SEVENTY TWO ENTRIES!
As usual, you can expect the (optional) Artist Interviews to fill in the empty spaces until we begin posting, and perhaps Closing Games Drawbles while the counting is happening.
The Mod Squad will be posting all the art, to facilitate the inclusion of the Judges Poll, as well as normalizing tags, lj-cuts, and titles. The art is to be emailed directly to the Snarry Games upon completion. If you wish to host your picture on your own site, please send us the link. We do not use Photobucket, or any other journaling service to host the art for the Games. If you have any questions regarding the best way to present or send your art, your Teams will have many established and seasoned artists to help. You will need to join your respective Team Communities:
teamangstart & teamromanceart. WHO CAN VOTE: Everyone who is a spectator and has a insanejournal. You can only vote once, but you can go in and change your original vote right up until the polls are locked for the final tally. insanejournal does not support anonymous voting.
WHO CANNOT VOTE: TEAM MEMBERS/CHAMPIONS and Snarry Games Mods, and those who do not have a insanejournal account. However, anyone can review! And pimp. Pimp you and your teammate's stories far and wide! The more votes you get, the higher the average, the closer you get to Snarry Gold! Go Teams! Unfortunately, Open ID does not allow you to participate in polls, or join communities at this time.
HOW DOES THE POLL WORK?
Each entry will have its own poll, and it will look like this:

The first two questions should be OBJECTIVELY voted on by the judges (spectators), the last question is SUBJECTIVE (ones own opinion).
The polls will remain open for 5 days after the last entry. The poll results will be visible only to the Snarry Maintainer (aka
djin7/snarrymod). She cannot be bought. The polls will then be CLOSED FOR COUNTING. Each entry will have its own average (Average is: a value that is computed by dividing the sum of a set of terms by the number of terms) i.e.:
Entry 1 (Team Romance)
Prompt: Average vote = 7/9
Romantic: Average vote = 6/9
Overall: Average vote = 9/9
Each average will then be CONVERTED to POINTS:
Grand Total = 22 points out of a possible 27.
Entry 2 (Team Romance)
Prompt: Average vote = 5/9
Romantic: Average vote = 5/9
Overall: Average vote = 7/9
Grand Total = 17/27 points
Total Points (cumulative) for Team Romance = 39/54. And so on...
Grand Total possible points for either Team is 972.
Whichever team has the highest point total WINS THE GOLD MEDAL of SNARRY!
Snarry art is under fire, as we are all quite aware, and is the reason we are now over at Insane Journal.
There will be NO POSTS at Livejournal.
We have an RSS FEED over there that people can watch. We thank you all for your support during our move to safer waters. That being said, the Snarry Art Games has always been chan-free. Our rules have always been: You can draw Harry [or any character] any age you want, but if you draw those same characters doing anything sexually explicit, then you must depict that character as being over 18. How you do that is the artist's choice.
Due to the legal implications of chan to many members, the
snarry_games community will NOT allow chan explicitly depicting anyone under the age of 18 yrs in sexual situations. Also:
All adult rated (NC17) images will be f-locked. You must join this community in order to see them, not just 'friend' it. To join this community, you MUST be 18 years or older, as stated in the user info.
If any artists should decide that they do not wish to join the Games as a result of this rule, we would be very disappointed, but we respect your artistic choice.

Another legal issue is the question of Photo Manipulations. Walking The Plank does NOT accept photo manipulations for legal related reasons.
The mods understand that some people like to use digital photography and manipulations in their art, and eliminating it completely can severely limit some artists. Therefore:
Photographic manipulations and the use of digital photography methods will be accepted if ALL the following conditions are met:
1. There can be no usage of any of the Warner Brothers Harry Potter trademarked actors*, or their distinguishable images.
2. If a model is used, they must be of AGE, and there must be permission, either given to the artist directly, or given to the site that hosts their images for the taking, and you must be able to produce it if asked.
3. If the material is graphic (R-NC17), the picture will be Friends-Locked, and warned for accordingly, with no exceptions.
4. *Exclusion: FANVIDS. Using the UNALTERED film footage of the Harry Potter movies is allowed for a fanvid. Please, no illegal content such as licensed pornography. Thank you.
Some new artists this round, so we are hoping that last year's champions will help out those new to the process the best way that they can. In the meantime, we will endeavor to answer all the questions that tend to come up.
1. How long do I have to finish my entry?
We would like the art to be finished (formatted/framed/scanned, sent to us) by no later than October 5, 2007. Your fellow Teammates should be able to help you with any technical difficulties, should you have trouble. The Mods will also be available and watching your team comms if you have any questions. The Team Comms are Friends Only, and only Team Members and Mods can see the posts.
2. How many pieces of art can I do?
As each team member is allowed only ONE ENTRY, any multiple art pieces must be related, and must be posted TOGETHER. (i.e. comics, series)
3. Your rules state no Photo Manipulations. Does that include derivative work such as Banners, icons, and Fanvids?
Our main concern is the use of the actors in the Harry Potter movies and franchise being 'manipulated' into explicit scenes, especially if they are not yet of age, and are recognizable. If you use existing footage/photos and do not alter them, as in a fanvid or similar, we have no problem accepting that.
4. When do we have to CHOOSE our GENRES?
The Genres will be chosen next week, giving the artists a bit of time to decide which (2) of the following they wish to commit to:
1. Wartime
2. Postwar
3. Canon (Scenes from the Harry Potter books)
4. Fanon (Scenes from your favourite Snarry fanfiction)
5. Hurt/Comfort
6. Alternate Universe/Reality
7. Horror
8. Humour/Crack
5. Can I change my mind about the GENRES I've chosen?
No. Once you commit, you have to follow through. This is a challenge fest! Remember, you will be JUDGED based on your genre(s).
6. Do I have to warn for character death or extreme content?
The Snarry Games warns for character death and extreme content. We simply use a format where the warning is invisible, like this:
Warnings: Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * Major character death. Torture. Extreme violence. * This way prevents anyone from seeing anything that they do not want to see, be it spoilers or the picture/art in question.
7. Do I have to do adult or explicit art?
Of course not. We welcome and encourage all ratings here. Canon scenes and G rated art pieces get as high votes as any adult rated art we've posted.
8. Do you do the Titles/Headers? Can I write Artist's notes, headers, thank you's and such?
There will be a standardised header that we will provide you with in your Team Comms. Feel free to elaborate on it with comments, etc.
9. Can I post, pimp or share the art I submit to you?
Your art is yours to do with as you please. Artist and teams may pimp their art far as far and wide as they like, in fact, we encourage it--we ask only that while the Games are on, they need to directly link to the community post in question to enable the polling vote process for their team's numbers. Failure to do so will threaten their team's chances of success!
After the Games are over, you can archive it anywhere you wish, and we encourage archiving it at Walking the Plank, the Severus Snape/Harry Potter ship archive from the Snape Slash Fleet.
10. Can we do pimp icons/graphics?
We encourage fan participation, and if anyone has any Games Icons or banners they wish to share with the rest of the spectators/teams, please do! We can link them and upload them here.
