Prompt: From the 2010 Snarry-a-thon: A Ghost/Horror Story - Harry has rebuilt the home at Godric’s Hollow, but after Severus begins a relationship with Harry, the ghost of James is hell bent on ridding Harry of Severus. The ghost of Sirius, Lily and Remus included would be interesting whether for good or evil. The ghost of James is not sane – death has not been kind to him.
Summary: Blissful newlyweds Harry and Severus move into Godric's Hollow, excited to start their new life together. But when the house goes from being drafty to deadly and Harry falls ill, Severus is forced to confront his fears in order to preserve his chance at lifelong happiness.
A/N: Some elements of this story inspired by the ever-wonderful television show Supernatural. Many thanks to FC for doing a fab beta job on such short notice! And thank you to Accioslash for doing such a wonderful job organizing this fest and being such an inspiration! *smooches*

	It's unusual, isn't it? I actually ran into a few walls because I'm so used to seeing in the HP 'verse the friendly ghosts who wander around Hogwarts, so it was definitely a challenge to make James menacing. 	This was spooky AND romantic - what a great combination! ;) Loved their banter, it was just perfect. And the hauntings were genuinely creepy, poor Harry! Oh wow - this was everything - I mean EVERYTHING - I hoped for with this prompt! Insane James, really scary and an honest to merlin threat. The atmosphere was so creepy and dark and I love how James preyed on each of the insecurities as well. I stayed up late reading this and I plan re-read it many times. It's just perfect. I applaud you and can't wait to find out who you are.

YAY! *happy dance* Thank you so much! The prompt was SO outside of what I normally do, but I saw it and just decided to take a risk and go for it. It was such a great prompt to work with. I've never written a ghost story before, and the biggest thing for me was establishing a sinister, creepy tone without it becoming cheesy and just not-scary, so I am THRILLED beyond belief you liked it!

	Oooo, I think this is the first Snarry horror story I've ever read. I adore how in love they were and how quickly things got out of hand. You're really good at writing that suspense type of action, like when the Snitch flew into the basement. I was freaked out. And it all ended well, so that's even better. Bravo! Wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot to me, since this was the first time I've ever attempted to do a suspense story (or really anything besides fluff/romance/smut *g*) and I was rather worried it wouldn't be scary or would just be cheesy.

And I of course needed a happy ending. I think part of the reason I was able to write it so quickly was because I was getting tired of always going in my brain "DON'T WORRY, BOYS! THE TORTURE WILL BE OVER SOON! SOON YOU WILL BE HAPPY AGAIN!" I just can't handle the guilt. *g*

So glad you enjoyed it!

	Scary! I can see James becoming insane - like I doubt Sirius's sanity. Very like the Bathilda possession in DH - and I found that pretty horrific. You wrote this really well, and with that creepy sometimes-normal, sometimes-weird uneasiness. Well done! (Reply to this) (Thread)
