This is really lovely! I like Snape's expression particularly--it's so poignant and right for him.

Just wow. Snape's expression, it just really makes my heart go out to him. He looks so nervous? but it's okay because Harry is there. Amazing Job!

Amazing reproduction and Snape's expression is priceless - however, I was looking at this trying to figure out what the pic had to do with "prawns at war"... until I went back and saw it was "pawns at war" *head-desk* Excellent work. cb

WOW. This is absolutely beautiful! A sensitive reinterpretation of the original (& thanks so much for the link).

The theme is so apropos. Snape is very much the acrobat with his double life, constantly risking his safety as he performs for two masters. And Harry, in his garish Gryffindor colors - love that substitution! - is sometimes just a puppet, always on stage.

I really love your technique here - the stark outlines of their shapes, filled in with the soft wash of colour. It makes a delightful contrast, which I think also underscores how ambivalent their situations are, always half clear and half fuzzy. So much of their lives is fated and trapped by circumstance, yet so much also is constantly, wildly unpredictable. I fancy their poses and expressions show their response to this: Snape is expert, yet miserable, and Harry is uncertain, but sharing his optimism.

I wholly love this work!

Oh, this is awesome. I love the colors and the despair on Snape's face. And the way Harry is obviously comforting him! Really and truly beautiful. Excellent job, mystery artist.

I admit, it took me a bit of thinking, and looking up the word "harlequin" in the dictionary, and putting it up together with the title "pawns in a war", but then I figured it out, and I love it!!! I am thoroughly impressed and so pleased with it... Great job :-)

Such a beautiful piece of art. It's so close to the original, but different. Snape and Harry really fit the part very well.

What an inspired reinterpretation!

You've captured the poignancy and melancholy of the Picasso original, but since we know the Snarry back-story it is even more evocative. Severus, in his guise as the double-agent, has to bend himself into all sorts of positions, just as the acrobat does. Harry has always been at the whims of the expectations of his friends and the general public, just as the Harlequin is in the commedia dell' arte. Both are forced to put on masks over their own emotions to perform their tasks, which makes their own sadness that much more painful.

Beautiful re-visioned, beautifully executed!

Severus looks so vulnerable and devastated. I’m glad Harry is there to comfort and help him. Their expressions are beautifully done.
I love the way Harry’s optimistic, keen stare draws attention to Severus‘ melancholic face. The tentative hand promises good things, and the overall effect is heart-warming, positive and very affectionate.

This is wonderful. Snape's posture, so...hurting. The Dark Mark just visible on his arm. Harry's comforting hand and tender look. So sweet.
