Rey Skywalker | OPEN 27 January | Arriving Rey makes the journal to a new world with BB-8
RATING: PG | Warnings: Mention of Character Deaths
Rey hesitated when the woman asked for something more than the only name she'd ever truly known. With no memory of who her parents were, no memory of being anyone other than Rey for most of her life, she wasn't sure how to answer. Palpatine wasn't exactly a name or a heritage she wanted to embrace.
Her gaze shifted as she saw the two Skywalker ghosts standing nearby with encouraging expressions on their faces. Luke and Leia, the closest things to parents she could remember knowing. Her memories of her own parents were so vague, but its was Luke and Leia who had taught her and who had believed in her. With their silent approval, she turned back to the woman. "Rey Skywalker," she said, feeling more at peace than she had in a long time. The Skywalkers were gone, the line ended with the deaths of Luke, Leia and Ben, but it could live on in Rey, even if she didn't have the blood. She could honor the name and she would bear it proudly for the rest of her days.
Lightsaber in her hand and BB-8 at her side, she turned back towards the Millennium Falcon and contemplated her next steps. The First Order was defeated, but there would still be work to do. This was just something she'd needed to do first, coming to Tattoine to lay their lightsabers to rest. She'd needed to do it alone, but she was glad to have the droid's company, at least.
Rey sensed the portal a split second before it appeared, but it didn't give her any sort of advantage. Try and they might to move in the other direction, the portal pulled both her and BB-8 in, sending them on a turbulent trip to [...] Rey didn't have the vaguest clue where they'd ended up when they were greeted by what looked like soldiers. They carried weapons and shields, but Rey could sense no threat from them. "It's okay," she told BB-8. "They don't mean to harm us." She followed willingly as she was escorted to a castle, but she found it hard to wrap her head around the things they told her, despite being able to sense their sincerity.
After being shown to her quarters in this strange new place, she set out again. She thought she could sense something [...] familiar, somehow in this place and, besides, what she really wanted to do was explore.
