backstory

It's the New Girl
Yes, I'm new, and lovely as it is I must immediately jump on this hiatus bandwagon. Unfortunately I'll be gone over spring break and won't have access to a computer until next week -- I'm looking forward playing when I get back, though!

Also, I'd love to create some backstory with anyone who's interested, but like I said, I probably won't have the chance before I leave. Anyway, if you'd like my character app is here.

Hi! I look forward to playing with you when you get back from Hiatus. XD I'm Ivan, btw.

I have five characters here, because I am partially insane.

First off we have Forrest here. He's the son of two minor canon characters in Harry's year, so I doubt that would be important. He'd quite possibly know Bai, considering he is a seventh year hufflepuff (with a small drinking problem he will tell you isn't a problem at all.) He's probably one of the most cheerful blokes ever, and yeah.

Then I have Dana Davies (

datemedana) a fifth year Ravenclaw who likes to fancy herself a feminist and a little bit better than a lot of people. She loves to learn and is very curious. Oh, she's also a lesbian, but only her friends know that and a few other people. It's probably gotten around the school anyway.

Jewel Thomas (

ararejewel) is the other one Bai would probably know more than the rest. She is a very peaceful seventh year Gyffindor. She isn't afraid to stand up for her beliefs, though, and she doesn't necessarily like everyone, she just isn't up for arguments and such.

Then I have Albus Severus Potter (

albervus), who is a sixth year Slytherin. Quite, reserved, thought friendly. He is quite ambitious, though, but like I said, he isn't the type to start up conversations.

Lastly I have Evan Longbottom (

energeticevan), sixth year Hufflepuff. Prefect. Quidditch team. Generally nice bloke. Though he has some enemies, just not many. He puts the Hype in Hyper, I think.

Ideas?

Hmm...

Well, she'd probably know Forrest and think he was a nice guy. I'm not really sure how well they'd get along. They'd enjoy each other's company, but I'm not sure they'd get to chatting and get to know each other very well. I'm sure they'd be friendly aquaintences, maybe with the potential to be good friends if they saw more of one another.

She'd probably think Dana was a nice enough person but a little naive. I don't think they'd be fabulous friends or anything like that, not that they dislike each other, just that they don't click.

Jewel, on the other hand, sounds like she'd be a great friend for Bai. I think they'd get along great. They seem to have a mutual disregard for conflict and could probably talk and laugh about a lot of things.

She probably wouldn't be to closely aquainted with the other two, Albus being too quiet and Evan being too busy/popular. They probably wouldn't meet to often, but if you have any ideas, I bet she'd get along with either of them.

:D Sup. I'm Alison, one of the modlies here. Welcome! And, firstly, I must have a moment of pb love because Shortbus is one of my favorite movies EVER. Which is pretty impressive, really, because I have a bizarre taste in movies. Anywhos, I'm tangenting. So yes. I've got 5 for you, and I think she should know most of them.

Firstly, there is this one. Katherine is a 7th year Claw, and she's very outspoken and in your face, and frankly, she can be a bit intimidating. She can be a bit bossy at times and a bitch in others, but she usually MEANS well- unless your name is Addison Montague- but she just has a funny way of showing it. The 7th year Claws are all really close, so I'm sure they'd be friends. Bai Li seems a lot quieter though, which would throw Katherine off a bit, but I think she'd also be sort of intrigued by her. And I can see them getting into lots of debates, which could be fun if she plays Devil's Advocate. Admittedly, Katherine may end up screaming at her because she is very much of the mindset that she is always right, but I think she'd respect her ability to argue both sides.

Next, I've got

jude_foster, 7th year Gryffindor. He's really laid back and chill, and he's rarely bothered by anything. He tends not to follow the rules all that much though because he doesn't see the point in rules as long as people are respectful of others, but he's still an all around good guy. They seem to have that in common, yeah? She doesn't seem to have a problem with breaking the rules as long as her intentions are good so maybe they could have met through that. He's heavily into the arts himself so maybe they could have bonded over that? He's more of a music and visual arts type though, but I think he'd be interested in the fact that she writes. And I can just see them meshing well in general so friends, maybe?

My last 7th year is

sebastiengirard, a Slytherin. He's sort of an arse, really; he'll be perfectly friendly to your face and then bitch about you the second you leave. He's fairly elitist though, and only has a few close friends who actually know that about him; to most, he comes across as perfectly charming and friendly, provided that he acknowledges you at all, of course. They're in the same year, so they'll at least know each other. But she doesn't seem like the type of person he'd really take notice of. She IS a girl, and Bastien is a bit of a flirt so he would have made a point of talking to her at some point, but I don't think she'd really capture his interest too much. If she liked him or wanted to pursue a friendship, he'd have no problem with that, but I don't think he'd go out of his way to start anything.

Then there's his brother,

amaury_girard, another Slytherin. He is much nicer; he's basically a sweetheart, and he has a huge hero complex, so he's always defending the underdog or offering to lend a helping hand. He is on the quieter side; he's more reserved, and he doesn't go out of his way to meet people, but he's perfectly friendly and polite when he is with someone. They're only a year apart so they may have met at some point in time? I think they could get along if they did.

And lastly, there's

luca_quinn, 6th year Puff. Luca is fairly antisocial, and he's really not good at dealing with people. He can be really rude without meaning to because he has no issue with speaking his mind, and since he's on the shy side, he can be painful to talk with. He's not the easiest person to get to know, but he does care deeply about his friends. Do you think they'd even know each other? A random run-in is always possible.

Hey! I'm Susan.

I think she ought to be friends with Katherine -- they might seem like they'd have some issues together, but for some reason I have this feeling they would get along famously. Superficially so, maybe, since neither of them are very open people and Katherine isn't the type to invite openness; if Bai Li did invite it from someone, that someone wouldn't be Katherine. However, I think they would have great debates and conversations. I think they'd have an opposing energy and at the same time balance eachother out. For example, Bai isn't really an easy person to get angry at, but I'm sure Katherine could manage it. ;)

It seems like she and Jude could be wonderful friends. I think he seems like someone she would open up to. Since he's the inquisitive type too, they could have great discussions. He could coax her on adventures. They could have jam sessions, since they're both musically inclined. It'd be awesome.

I don't think she'd have any respect for Sebastien, I can't see them being friends at all. He might even make her angry. Could be interesting, though, to see them interact (although I suppose she might just ignore him).

I think she'd like Amaury. I'm not sure about Luca, though, I don't see them hitting it off.

Hello! I'm Jade - the other mod, and I have five characters to throw at you as well.

misshiggs - Elizabeth ("Liz") - 7th year Claw / headgirl - I actually see them getting along quite well, maybe almost-BFFly if Bai Li was inclined to have strong friendship ties, as Liz is generally a nice, polite, and friendly girl who has the quintessential Ravenclaw traits like wit, intellect, and curiosity (although her curiosity is the type that burns obsessively if it fixates itself on a subject until she knows everything about it). You'll learn that the 7th year Claws (boys and girls) are pretty tight here, and I'm sure Bai Li will get along with all of them to varying degrees. Liz is BFFs with Katherine and Kris (who she is also dating), and is rather close to Cal, Blair, and Steven. It would depend on how Bai Li takes to her? If Bai Li doesn't like her or isn't too close, Liz wouldn't push the issue and would still be friends but not close.

addymontague - Addison Montague (who you see mentioned above in Ali's reply is the person that Katherine hates). He's a 7th year Snake, and he is a gentleman, nonconfrontational, diplomatic, agreeable, and generally very "neutral". Katherine hates him basically because he doesn't take sides and shows no response to her arguments (for which she yells at him almost everyday). Since Bai Li is a 7th year Claw, I think she'd at least know of him and most likely would have seen Katherine rant at him or about him. He gets along with some of the others (Liz, Cal, Steven, Kris) to various degrees but he doesn't expect them to be BFFs since they are closer to Katherine naturally, so he would be pleasant and cordial to Bai Li but I doubt anything else. Unless she showed signs of wanting to date or whatever and he asked her out two years ago? Currently though, he is dating Wynne Thruston, so any past relationships would remain backstory. It's probably doubtful though knowing Katherine, but I thought I'd throw that in in case you wanted drama with Katherine (although I have no idea if Bai Li would like him or be interested in him).

lukespencer - 7th year Lion - he's basically loud, outgoing, fun, and a tad crazy. Even if she didn't introduce herself, he would go up to her and introduce himself. Basically everyone knows him because they can hear him coming a mile away ;D He is BFFs with Jude, so if she knows Jude, she'd definitely know Luke. I don't know - if he irritates her and she doesn't like him, he'd probably just shrug it off and go about his business. He usually only teases guys who hate him relentlessly. He will tease girls and joke around with them even if they are annoyed by him just in good fun and to try to get them to laugh.

audreyboot - this account - 6th yr Claw - she's basically an uber science-nerd, but as the only (and youngest) daughter of her family, she's been sheltered - and so she is quite innocent. She tends to overanalyze everything (e.g. emotions) in her way to understand them. The 7th yr Claw girls are "big sisters" to her in a way (Katherine being the closest) and Kris is a "big brother" to her. She has twin brothers (NPCs) who would be a 7th yr Claw and a 7th yr Lion. And right now, she's starting to date Cal. So, she would be friendly and probably know Bai Li. It would depend on how Bai Li takes to her.

naturesong - 5th yr Puff - she's my nature girl as she loves plants and animals (herbology and care of magical creatures). Jude is a "big brother" to her, and she is quite friendly but because of the 2 year age difference, I'm not sure if they'd know each other. It would depend if it's also "hey, another asian girl at school!" recognition ;) or if Bai Li knows her sister, who is a 6th yr Lion (her player is currently on hiatus).

All their bios are in the character archives. If you have time to fill out the character infosheet which is linked on the table of contents in the mod account (right under the archives), please do. :D I updated all of Bai Li's info, I believe, except for the PB page which I will work on tonight. If you have any changes that you'd like made, please let me know.
