Diana: (What a rotten day. Dumped by my boyfriend, now this.) STAND DOWN! Giganta: Wait! *WHAM* *SPLASH* *POW* Giganta: Guh-lllbb! STOP! Diana: Make it quick. Giganta: I'm here on a DATE! Not that YOU would know anything about THAT... *WHAM* *SPLASH* *POW* Giganta: Guh-lllbb!
And ... seriously. As much as I hate hearing other people say that -- seriously. Because I hate being serious. I badly want to know what Diana was thinking. Already she's pushing the spear back. What was her mistake? Was she tired of "always the bridesmaid" at the weddings of Barry and Iris, Ralph and Sue, Clark and Lois, Dinah and Ollie -- let's not talk about Wally and Linda? Is she tired of being surrounded by physically fit, attractive people -- "water, water everywhere"? Is she a chip off the block, in that Polly desperately wanted a child enough to pester Aphrodite until she gave in? Do Amazons have normal human feelings and the capacity to let their guard down, make an error in judgment (rushing from first date to measuring curtains)? If the answer is yes to some or most of these, then yay! Diana is more like us than she is like Dr. Manhattan. I was getting worried.
