F-yeah week: Young Conan versus a wolf

Conan of Cimmeria, at eight years old, fights a hungry wolf.

This is from Dark Horse's Conan series, one of its "Born in the Battlefield" stories, which were stories about Conan's youth interspersed between the main story arcs set in his adulthood.

But didn't they, like, make about 20 songs about boy-eating wolves? Wait, or was that wolf-eating boys?

It's been more than thirty years since the wolf and the winter cold. And now, as then, it is not fear that grips him, only restlessness. A heightened sense of things. The seaborn breeze, coolly, kissing the sweat at his chest and neck. Gulls cawing, complaining, even as they feast on the thousands of floating dead. The steady breathing of the 300 at his back, ready to die for him without a moment's pause. Everyone of them ready, to die.

Conan could give virtually anyone a run in the badass catagory. He was the "Goddamn Conan."

Thank you Busiek and Ruth for showing me the grave where we buried the last of Frank Miller's originality.

wow! this is just beautiful, beautiful art.

It's probably over twenty years since I last picked up a Conan comic. Kurt Busiek was writing it then. I'm glad he's still doing so now.

Yeeessss.

Apart from the movie I was a Conan novice, then I picked up the "Centennial edition" (or something?) which had a good chunk of the Conan stories in it. Damn that was good.
