Batman Adventures v2 10 When Catwoman breaks into Wayne Manor, things don't go exactly as Bruce expects.
Nice Bruce cannot possibly get enough love.

Nice Bruce is nice, but I kinda wanted a confrontation, if not just for the "bling bling" bit. Stick to cat puns, Selina, you do those a lot better.

Aww... although Catwoman's monologue to the reader upon breaking into the safe is less misdirection and more outright lie, but that's okay.
This was cute.
Maybe she actually intended to rob Bruce, but then changed her mind at the last minute.
"Wait... 'bling-bling in the New Year?' Ugh, did I actually say that? That's villain dialogue. That's cartoonishly evil, D-list villain dialogue! And here I am, robbing Bruce, the only one who... oh god no. I've got to stop this right now."
Or maybe she was dropping off her note but got momentarily distracted by the big haul in front of her.
"And now to leave this note for Bruce, to tell him that... ooh, money... No! Focus, Selina! ...To tell him that I won't be committing any more crimes this year."
I'm guessing it's something like the latter one. 'Oooh - look at all this lovely money. Shame I'm not taking any of it... Oh, well, better leave before I'm tempted.'
Selina's tongue sticking out is so cute. :) I always felt that the DCAU Bat/Cat relationship was not really developed and was somewhat lacking, considering that in the comic world Bruce called Selina the one who always had his heart.

I'd say that Selina in general was never really done justice in the DCAU, and her relationship with Bruce was fairly weak as a natural consequence. She's ahead of the curve compared to Babs, certainly, and the rights-activist socialite who thieves out of a combination of mild social conscience and strong boredom was a good distillation/revamp and a really strong starting point, but they just never seemed to be inspired to take it anywhere past that the way they were with their Ivy revamp or their Fashion Designer Lana.
Come to think of it, yeah, Ivy's stories were written really good compared to Selina's.
Although there were some issues of Batman Adventures and Gotham Adventures that spotlighted their relationship. But I never did get a sense of flow and development from the issues.
Selina's tongue sticking out is so cute.Motto! I always felt that the DCAU Bat/Cat relationship was not really developed and was somewhat lacking, considering that in the comic world Bruce called Selina the one who always had his heart.I don't know, she always had his heart until he ended up alone ... with Ace, the great dane??? What was he thinking? He should have given Selina a ring as soon as he had the heart attack and had hung up the cowl. At least he told Terry about her when he brought up the subject of falling for someone and later catching her red-handed. I kind of love/hate the doomed tragic thing they had in the AU.
That's why I really dislike Batman Beyond. It's as if they forgot Bruce had some relationships in his life, and just settled for him being a totally lonely grumpy old man.
Oh, and yey! Icon! I was waiting for someone to make one! Can I grab it?

Aw, but then came Terry! That's Terry, who has black hair like Selina and unlike Mrs. McGinnis. Hmmmm....
Can I grab it?
Sure! :)
I see what you did there.
If worse comes to worst, I'll just retreat from the DCU to the BCU entirely. :D
I didn't like Terry in the Batman Beyond series. But The Black Cat made me love him in Batman and Sons. So yep, BCU>DCAU in that regard.

Yeah, but did we ever really find out what happened to Selina? Other than a passing mention, I don't ever recall her showing up in Batman Beyond. It's very possible she was just totally out of the picture for whatever reason by that time.
Selina was going to be the one to "clone" Bruce in Epilogue, but they changed it so Waller handled the biotech and Andrea "The Phantasm" Beaumont was going to kill Terry's parents for the psyche. Thank Rao Selina was excused from both roles.
I say she gave up on Bruce a long time ago and was sailing the Catamaran around the Caribbean at the time long after donating her DNA to Waller for Project Batman Beyond.
Have always wondered what happened to Selina in the DCAU. Too bad there never was the proper closure for her.
I am sticking with Black Cat's origin for Terry :D
that was probably at leat 20 years after the end of the series. Anything could have happened by then to preclude giving her a ring.
I like it. Plus, "I'm a srong believer in the power of a simple vow" doesn't come off as corny at all, in fact it is rather poignant.
D'awwwww.... It's so cute. Can't think of anything witty to say. <3

Anyone else think ceiling cat in that first panel?
The DCAU is pretty good.
It has had the benefit of decades of good stories to cherry-pick from, and the freedom to ignore the decades-of-continuity albatross that keeps the comics from getting any traction.
The animators and writers can distill the characters as well as keeping them all ages. Which is impossible with the current state of superhero decadence.
THIS. In letters the size of the Hollywood sign.

Yep. See also the "New Frontier" novel and/or film. I wish they did these "distillates" more often, damnit! And marketed them where people who aren't really capital-F FANS could see them, ferchrissakes!
Actually I find the lack of continuity makes the stories weak and pretty irrelevant. At least if you're trying for something other than cute and funny.
1. D'awww...! Do you think she postscripted xoxoxo? 2. Selina's one badass thief to get access to the Goddamn Manor. Even if they knew when and where she was, the stately Wayne estate must have the best locks and alarms in Gotham. Go Selina. 3. Icon <3 for sailorlibra!

...yeah, I had to make some Catwoman icons from this post. Sue me. Or just, y'know, snurch. *shrugs*
Nice Bruce cannot possibly get enough love.
He can't. This is very, very cute! I love the art here, too.
I know, it so awesomely cute!
And here I think again that I should definitely read more DCAU.
I love how her ears point in different directions in the 2nd and 3rd panel, just too cute.

I thought the New Adventures comic that explained her haircolor change also served as the end to their positive relationship hence why she was absent in BB.... |
