I consider the Slade of the cartoon far better than the Slade of the comics. Yes I know he's antiheroic in the comics blah blah, but in the cartoon he was just old fashioned mysterious badass villainy with a creepy factor cranked up to eleven. Not to mention unlike any character in comics ever he actually managed to stay mysterious rather than having extensive backstory. Plus, he got the one thing DC is too afraid to do; give a famous "normal" character a power. And it worked brilliantly, making him even scarier than before.
And also, Starfire's costume in the cartoon is so, so, so very much better than her not-sexist-by-author's-excuse version.
