GREEN ARROW & BLACK CANARY #25
Written by Andrew Kreisberg
Art by Renato Guedes, Mike Norton, José Wilson Magalhães & Bill Sienkiewicz
Cover by Ladrönn
The main story this month focuses on the sudden and strange return of Green Arrow! Of course, we’re talking about the Green Arrow that Black Canary stabbed on her wedding night!
And in this issue’s co-feature, Black Canary is stunned to find that Cupid can’t tell the difference between the two Green Arrows – which could lead to one of the deadliest Super-Villain teams of all time!
On sale October 14 • 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US

An Everyman and Cupid team up. Because you actively called them the two worst villains created in the last five years demanded it.

So either
1. Kreisberg is retconning the events of GA/BC 1, or
2. The solicitation has possibly spoiled part of the ending to Blackest Night by revealing that at least on of the dead is coming back to life, or
3. Everyman is coming back to life as a Black Lantern, goes after Ollie and Dinah, and Cupid can't tell the difference between him as a Black Lantern and Ollie Queen and teams up with him.

(3 is just so utterly ridiculous that I can't stop laughing at it and yet it's probably the most likely scenario.)

I really, really hate that Renato Guedes, Bill Sienkiewicz and José Magalhães are drawing this title*. They're talented, dammit!

*I'd add Mike Norton, but he can draw like 34389 pages a day so it doesn't really matter.

No kidding. It's like she's wearing Norma Kamali from 1983 - shoulder pads as big as footballs!

The solicit is so ridiculous, I don't even have words for it. The cover, however, I have words for. It makes Dinah look like a linebacker.

It makes Dinah look like a linebacker.

I can't decide whether Dinah is going to tackle the arrow, or use her awesome ninja skillz to catch it.

Oh, wait, this is Green Arrow/Black Canary, Dinah doesn't have awesome ninja skillz. Tackle it is.

I'm just weirded out that Ladronn actually put Dinah's hair in front of her cleavage like that. It's almost like he had a last-minute attack of respect for her dignity.

In my amateur opinion, it is last minute. Notice the lack of lines on her hair? That's air brushing.

This. If she didn't inspire strange jealousy/moral condemnation from Dinah (Who, by the way, has killed people.) I would think she would be a fun way to confound a happy couple. If they were both talking about how psycho she was, and Dinah told Ollie about *her* stalker-crazy fans (ahem, Ras).

If it were Dinah and Ollie against a murderous female Pepe LePew, it would be a great story. But no. It has to be darrrrrrrrrrrrrk and grrrrrrrrrrrritty and dramatic.

I realize that nobody but me cares, but in the recent issue of JSA vs. Kobra: Engines Of Faith, Kobra stole the shematics to the Everyman Project, so this could be a new Everyman that is linked to Kobra.
Of course, given how other writers have handled anything related to what Greg Rucka has set up to be Checkmate continuity (Bruce Jones? Don't be ridiculous, that person doesn't exist.) it could be even more desasterious than GA/BC already is, but a teensy, tiny shred of me still holds out hope.

Ollie and Dinah going up against a powerful international terrorist conglomerate would be something I'd like to read.

I know we saw him get dissected, but Everyman has survived being killed before. I don't think it's connected to Black Night.

To be fair, just the concept of an Everyman-Cupid team up plot is at the concept of needing MST3K style commentary.

(Also, Everyman was clearly in the JLA villains morgue in Blackest Night 1. While it's true that not every villain in the morgue need become a black lantern, the alternative is something like

Black Hand: Blackguards of the world, rise.
Everyman: Hey, I'm not actually dead. I'll be leaving now, unless you've got a bite to eat.
Black Hand: Do you like human hearts?
Everyman: They're my favorite organ! Do you have any Hawkman?)

Have I mentioned I don't like Everyman? :P

How many times do we have to kill this guy before he stays dead?

Personally, I would like to see Everyman come back as other people he has impersonated. That kid from Infinity Inc., Ted Kord, Lex Luthor. A teamup between Cupid and Lex might actually make me consider Byrne-stealing this book instead of making disgusted noises at it and keeping my pull-list away from its dark influences.

See, here lies your problem: You see Ollie on a cover seemingly just having shot an arrow, and you also see an arrow flying at Black Canary and you assume he shot it at her.

But: The covers, they lie! >_>

Also: I always thought that Ollie is the wide range expert in the team, while Dinah is the close range one, so each of them is better than the other at what they do. Which makes it all the more sad that many writers can't seem to find a way to make this simple separation of duties work in a fight...

True, but Canary also has a power which has been shown to be strong enough to keep projectiles away from her, making it easy to get in close because he can't keep her away.
