Doorway to Nightmare, first Madame Xanadu.

Ah the mysterious world on Manhattan tarotcard reading. Funny how often it ends in metal titie cups and Egyptian gangbang Bukkake'...

Meh. It might have cut it back in the day, but now I have the internet, and am a little more jaded when it comes to porn.

Cracking one out to this would be cracking one out to Page 3 of the Sun; sure it's possible, but it'd be trying too hard.

And that, ladies n' gennelmen, is way TMI for me to sharing while I'm eating breakfast. :)

Man, I miss this Madame X. It's cool that she can generate enough interest for her own Vertigo series and all, but that chick just isn't this one. It's a shame she never really caught on in her modern incarnation.

Though I wonder how much of that is due to bad marketing. I see a comic named "Doorway to Nightmare," I'm going to assume it's a horror comic; if I then read a bunch of stories that really, are essentially superhero stories (Madame X definitely was - happy endings were the rule and there was less permanent damage to bystanders along the way than a Golden Age Supes comic), I'm going to stop buying it because it wasn't what I was looking for. If I'm looking for superhero comics, though, I'm not going to buy it in the first place because I'm going to assume it's horror. She might have had better odds in a different book.

When I was a kid and read TARZAN AND THE JEWELS OF OPAR, I found a long sequence where La is running around the jungle wearing golden breastplates. Instead of being titillated, though, I just found the image made me wince. Wearing those things in the hot sun? It must be like getting in the car in the summer and trying to sit on the leather seats in your swimsuit. Ow.

No, was there a character dressed like this?

You would think that historic people who actually wore metal breastplates might line the insides with cotton or something. But then, a lot of people today wear uncomfortable clothing from custom or for style. High heels, necktie and jacket in August, sometimes both.

My Grandmother was a true Fashionesta. When I was 13 she told me " When you feel good, you know it. When you look good the world knows it."

Sorry, I haven't seen it. My usual area of interest is between 1920 and 1975 or so (although I have picked up WATCHMEN and LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, a few things like that).

Nightforce was Marv Wolfman writing, and Gene Colan drawing, a sort of magical investigative/strike team with a rotating cast. Quite good fun, and Baron Winters was a great character, he remained inside his mansion at all times (a curse or somesuch), but whilst the front door opened to the present, the other doors led to whichever time and place he chose.
