Tim is a real jerk here. Maybe he thinks "Damian's a jerk and Dick chose him over me so now I'll be a jerk too."
You know they should really have a team of psychologists on call for the Bat family.
I still can't trust you to wear that costume
Ack, I hope this isn't the set up for her to become Batgirl.

I still find Tim sympathetic--ask me how!

He's being completely unreasonable here, obviously, and I hope his violence is meant to be disturbing. He's numb and angry if he doesn't even react normally by helping her up. But I still find him sympathetic and believable.
The scene's making it pretty obvious that this is about Tim pulling away from *everyone* out of a general feeling of resentment that has very little to do with what they've actually done to him.
He is, it seems, determined to "do wrong" in this series. This is scene is a flashback that he first refers to by saying later is the second time in a few weeks he's kicked a girl and "Alfred wouldn't approve." (Which is a silly thing to say since Alfred knows the girls they hang out with.)
I admit I find the Ra's/Tim attraction interesting and consistent. There are things about Ra's Tim can relate to, especially the interest in immortality that would give someone the ultimate control. (It's making me think also how Dick is the only boy Bat who honestly doesn't seem to be in danger of going all power evil.)
Also, Ra's is showing him attention by approving of his mission
and encouraging his unhealthy way of dealing with things changing and Bruce's death--which should be a warning sign. (Eventually they will find Bruce is alive, but it seems like that won't just be Tim when it happens.) Anybody who shows concern for him is the enemy because he takes concern as saying he's crazy for not accepting Bruce's death, which also gets tied up in the way people Tim cares for die and his personality sometimes makes it easier for him to be emotionally intense about dead people than lives ones.
I personally also think Tim's always insecure about his place in the family. As a kid he was ignored, he's always had moments of feeling that even when Bruce and Dick made an effort to make him feel like a family member, he never would be family like they were to each other, but always on the outside looking in. He's not Bruce's son the way Dick or Damian are in his mind, I don't think. His conflicting emotions over being Bruce's son are different than Dick's or Damian's. Which is something I will always sympathize with, so I do find him very sympathetic even here.
Also I don't think there's any particular dead person whose return would fix much. It's like when his father first woke up from the coma and wanted a relationship like they hadn't had before. No matter how much he mourns a person when they're gone, he still needs to protect himself when they're back.

two problems here:
1. Tim is being a complete ass - seems really out of character to me
2. Stephanie seems all super-feminine and helpless in terms of the art and how the panels play out - does anyone else kinda see that too?

Tim, congratulation, by saying "I will not become Batman" repeatably the last few years, you succeed. But you still got his emo-jerkwadness that you hated SO much and was the main reason why you didn't want to be Batman in the first place.
