So it's Doom vs Doom in the final issue of John Francis Moore's first Doom run. He came back after Warren Ellis (who does the script for this issue) left the book due to complications with editoral. Sad to say it wasn't superior to this. It's mostly a crossover for five issues of Doom in the 616 verse meeting 616 Doom, Namor, Thing, Daredevil, Dr. Strange, and the Inhumans. Most of whom are trying to stop him from poisoning the people of Latervia (Doom's reasing that future generations would survive the nanotech holocaust the MegaCorps unleash on the country) and destroying of parts of the sea (enter Namor's reasons). Then it's all set up for the end of Doom 2099 as it ends with the arrival of the Phalanx (aka the aliens Avatarr was paving the way for). Sad to say, this Doom goes all OOC during that and it's best not to dwell on that book or the final issues. They're really quite bad hampered with several fill in artists (the worse of whom draws the final three issues).
As for #25 it's double-sized with three stories. The first is this one. The second is of some dude only the 90s could give birth too, Public Enemy. The final story is one of Doom's foes, Feng Haung. She was the foe to Doom in the space arc (#15-18). The tale has her survive the fate she was dealt from #18 to plague Doom another day. However, that day never come's. Sad really she was somewhat amusing. I must apologize for not scanning the meat of the fight between Doom's given there's like three splash pages (only the first among them I posted) and four regular pages of them fighting PLUS two on Wire (who survived via a deus ex machina all thanks to Duke Strastosphere and Margaretta). Then the two stories I alluded to earlier. So yeah even though it's double-sized with a ton of pages I had to make sacrifices. And will make more if I went over the scan allowed count.
But anyway enough talk. Time to end it:
The "good" Doom is then smashed into a house. When he hears his grandfather's name be called. It is then Doom thinks about the irony of this battle as it he always enjoyed the iron masked dolls his grandfather made and thus the designs for his armor and mask. So this battle give's birth to Doom.
However, the time plateform is unstable and the two Doom's battle goes to various points of history. From World War II where the Germans are blitzing the small country. To sometime during the present:
The two Doom's continue to get further lost in time as we're shown nice little periods of Marvel history around them (Days of Future Past and Iron Man of 2020). The fighting ends when "good" Doom forces "evil" Doom to return to their time or else they would be lost forever. "Evil" Doom yields and then they are placed back in a familar location, the South Pacific base where all this started. However, some years prior to their battle. When this unfolds:
So Doom leaves Margaretta to die with the "fake" Doom as the castle implodes. As for Doom besides escaping? Well...
And so ends WEEK OF DOOM for me. I hope you enjoyed my Doom posts.
