It's just tiresome.

He's also introducing Tony's never before seen brother Gregory whose smarter, richer and blond. He also has a suit of armor better then Tony's and is a teetotaler. I'm not joking.

Let me guess, he's so special that he gets to have all the supergenius with none of the brain mutation?

Alright, the "he wears white, just to further the light/shadow" bit was where I rolled my eyes. Bets that he ends up a villain?

If he's really all that, then why didn't Fury just go to him in the first place?

Oh, are we still hating everything Millar does? Okay.

Well, I don't hate this. Civil War was lazy-ass work by him but his Ultimates is generally solid.

Agreed.

I think this would be easier to accept/cooler if there wasn't the whole Loeb CRAP happening between Millar's first two Ultimates and this stuff.

Millar is surprisingly good at Superman.

Everything else is subpar, and I'm sick of the Ultimate Universe being even more asshatty than the Marvel Universe.

Seconding this. His Superman work is generally stellar, but I loathe pretty much everything else he's written.

Particularly THE ULTIMATES, since the tone and popularity of THE ULTIMATES contributed to regular 616 Marvel U to become the crap-hole of asshattery and douchebaggery it is today.

You know what really, REALLY bugs me about this?

That Red Skull isn't even ... a Nazi. At most he's one of those inbred redneck wannabe Neo-Nazis.

PLEASE let the REAL RED SKULL come by and kill his ass for taking the name. What the fuck is that, really? He looks more like Edward Norton's character in American History X than a real menace.

But you already have the REAL Red Skull in the Marvel Universe.
Isn't one of the points of the Ultimate Universe to offer radical modern interpretations of characters?

Why would you want the Ultimate version to be just like the Marvel version?

I like the idea of it being an "American History X"-like villain. The American Neo-Nazi youth movement is so jarring and creepy, I would like to see comic books tackle it in an interesting way.

WOW! LOOK EVERYONE, It's Mark Millar trying to be stupidly provocative again!

In anyone else's hands, even Bendis', I know the idea of the Red Skull being Cap's own son would be handled pretty well, but as is, it just feels ridiculous and you know the Skull will just be this ridiculous, almost pantomine villain.

I do like the idea of Nick Fury, the badass Ultimate version who has taken shit off of no-one, so far, being ordered around and have his ass kicked by his wife, but I just take such an issue in the fact that there's been zero foreshadowing of this. If Millar had this in mind all along and didn't plan it in say, the last six months, we would've at least gotten some decent references to it, like Fury at least asking if his ex was okay during the two finales of Ultimates and Ultimates 2..

But what if the idea didn't come to him until recently?
You say so yourself that its a good idea, but just because it wasn't introduced with the origin of Ult. Nick Fury, it can never be used?
If an idea is good, shouldn't it get the chance to be used, even if it refers to a piece of previously-unmentioned backstory in an artform that is based on serial installments?

I don't mind this.

Millar being "stupidly provocative" is OKAY in the Ultimate Universe I think. It works. I can enjoy it.

Now, if he'd just keep his dirty hands of 616 I'd be a happy camper.
