This is one of those pages from Huntress: Year One that qualifies as "so bad it's good", IMO.

	Could be photobucket resizing. Or maybe I scanned it in my sleep or something, IDK. But that image wasn't saved in my usual s_d-scan folder and I didn't label it like I normally label stuff I scan, so I figured it must've been one I stole, like the thieving thief I am. edited to add scans (Reply to this) (Parent)

I think I've mentioned this before, but while I can see it as Babs being gay or bi, my first thought is that her relationship with Dinah and her trying to pick up Helena here are the product of her having pretty much no female friends/relationships of any kind at this point in her life.

Even here, in this random weirdo may-not-even-be-canon scene, Babs is surrounded by male colleagues. That "I'll try to act girly" line especially ties into that theory. I mean, it could work as her attempt at a pick-up line, but it also reads like "omg it's a girl! I can haz friend?" to me.

	I'd love to see this scene brought up in the BoP-era. Y'know, like a Truth or Dare session with Babs, Helena, Zinda, Dinah, and Charlie, and when it's Helena's turn and she chooses Truth, she goes, "Barbara tried to pick me up at a bar in Palermo." (Reply to this)

What you're forgetting is that when Helena's family was murdered when she was eight, the Gotham police sent her "condolence" cards that read "many happy returns." So hearing Barbara toasting the death of Mandragora, and then learning that Gordon and her colleagues are with law enforcement, could only bring all that back for her. When she says never to toast anyone's death, she's genuinely angry. Babs may be trying to be friendly, but she's failing miserably.

Well, yes, but Babs couldn't know any of that. Maybe she IS genuinely angry, but she's not really acting that way - more like bitchy and confrontational. She's never met Babs in her life, and she's responding to her apologetic overtures of friendship with the cold shoulder. She's essentially taking her anger out on an innocent stranger who's trying to be friendly, and I can't defend that.
