Comics That you Haven't Heard about But Should Read: the Middleman
Created and written by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and illustrated by Les MacClaine, the series revolved around Wendy Watson, a temp who is thrust into the role of sidekick for the aforementioned title character.
The series involves Wendy and the Middleman, a character who appears to be an odd mix of Captain America and Fraiser from Due South, being sent out to protect the public from "the dangerous things from comicbooks that happen to be real".
So kind of like the X-Files, expect a lot less of that annoying angst and navel-gazing and a lot more chimpanzee gangsters, luchador criminal syndicates and Lovecraftian "hentai monsters".
It's a lot of fun, and so far it's been collected in three trades, though I'm not sure if that covers the entire series or not.
It was also made into a TV show last year or the year before, though it's been cancelled, despite mostly good reviews.
For legality, here's the end of the second story arc, so spoilers.
