Well, the very first time I saw their relationship was on JLU, which I've heard a lot of Ollie/Dinah shippers who don't like the current stuff point to as a great example of them, and in which Ollie is also a completely paternalistic ass who thinks he knows better than Dinah how to solve her problems and gets rewarded by her for doing so at her expense. So for me, that's just always been the dynamic of their relationship (I was actually prepared to really not like Dinah when I started reading BIRDS, and I still don't consider *her* particularly OOC in that mini, sadly). I'm perfectly willing to believe an Ollie fan who says the Sin-napping was over-the-top for him, much the way, say, shooting a kid is over-the-top for Jason... but if, as with Jason, that's a parody of a genuine trait (and dynamic), it's a trait (and dynamic) I can't really tolerate in any quantity, so it doesn't really matter to me that he wouldn't go X far with it if he were being written properly.
I actually do think their relationship is interesting and worthwhile in what parts of Grell's run I've read, but I also think Grell did a really good job of definitively ending it. So for me, them kicking back up again doesn't really make sense from any perspective.
