Re: We Had To Destroy The Character In Order To... Destroy The Character One of the reasons I love Alan Moore's work so much is that he can deconstruct superheroes and then put them back together and they're still superheroes.
This is why Adam Warren is my favorite super-hero comic writer. He doesn't just deconstruct the characters, though, he deconstructs the entire subculture, and then works within it. It's almost like he acknowledges the goofiness of super-heroes, but instead of condemning it he treats it like any other subculture, with its own quirks and foibles.
