This comic put me in a bad mood.

Johns knocks Canary out of the original JLA, because making her a founder is a bad icky retcon building up some girl he doesn't care about, trying to give her something on her resume since her Golden Age adventures have all been given to her mom.

But Johns makes sure to hammer home that Barry's mother is DEEEAAAD because that's a good retcon that he things is building up a character he claims to love (and Johns has recently converted Zolomonism, so he thinks you need tragedy in your origin to be a good hero).

And Death isn't an Emotion.

I'm confused, what of those examples really have much anything to do with GL or THE BLACKEST NIGHT other than the fact that Johns is writing them?

And do we know that Johns was responsible for kicking Dinah out? Because that really sounds like an editorially-mandated move, a trademark DiDioism. But it could have been Johns, I suppose.

I hate the Barry retcon too, especially because Barry's the LAST character that needs angst. He should be the anti-angst character. But regardless, that has little bearing on the quality of THE BLACKEST NIGHT, which is shaping up to be bloody excellent.

And I know I've certainly had days where I've felt like death. I wouldn't want to face an army of those, lemme tell you.

Um, given the whole Women in Refrigerators deal, there should be a hell of a lot more ladies than this picture implies. Where are all the dead Amazons? If I wanted a kickass zombie army, that'd be one of the first places I'd look. That and Tamaran. But wait, they're actually zombies? As in, reanimated corpses? Dammit, that makes a mass resurrection that much less likely.

Man if they don't end it with a mass resurrection, they're going to have to end it with Death rounding up all these guys and sending them back off to wherever. Preferably with sass, if Geoff Johns is up to the challenge. Which I doubt.

So, from left to right, here's what we think:
Earth-2 Superman, Unknown with red sleeve, Vic Sage? - I actually think its Maxwell Lord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell_Lord), Blue Beetle, Abin Sur, Aquaman, unknown red sleeve, Firestorm?, unknown hand, Mirror Master I, Female hand (Hippolyta? or Hawkwoman?), Martian Manhunter

No Jade, Katma Tui, Superboy, or Elongated Man who are supposed to be BLs. And I am still hoping for Kole. And what about the original Terra?
