This is pretty cool stuff. I like how Bill is not your stereotypical down-home midwesterner, but a real guy, fleshed out with real character traits. Sure, he's a big, goofy guy, but he's a BELIEVABLE big, goofy guy - he's not some hulking troll who goes 'Durr' when he can't think of anything, and he's not a 'genius giant' type, either - he's got a brain in his head, but he's no genius; he may get flustered when he messes things up, but that doesn't stop him trying. And more importantly, he has one very relatable motivation - he's someone who had basically settled down to a life of mediocrity, when along comes this amazing, magical, dangerous place and this amazing, magical, possibly dangerous woman, whom he loves and who loves him, and suddenly his world has expanded, and he's not sure how he feels about it. I think everyone can relate to that to some degree. I certainly can.
