It's always interesting when we get a story like this. We're used to thinking of Batman as not so much a man as some swirly-caped, invincible THING, with a jaw of stone and a gaze like ice and a voice like sandpaper, who can send the toughest of crooks screaming into the distance with a single whispered word. We're used to thinking of him as a sort of fearsome creature, but he's not. He's human, and even the toughest of humans gets a little out of breath at times. And it is good that we are occasionally reminded of this, because in my mind, being only human makes the Bat MORE badass, not less. The fact that he manages to do all that he does while still being the vulnerable mortal that he is is far more impressive than if he were genuinely invincible - if he were genuinely invincible, he wouldn't have to work so hard at it.
