S.A.S.E. - Send Another Submissions Editor
I clicked into the blog of C.B. Cebulski (writer of X-Infernus and assorted shorts and one-shots) the other day and saw this little gem posted there -- a six-page comic about the weirdest encounters he's ever had reviewing art portfolios at conventions.

It's worth making the trip to his blog to see the whole thing.

This was the one I had the strongest reaction to. You just know there's nothing that can be said that's not going to make the situation worse.

For real. I wish I could give him a cookie.

Seriously. He probably just brought the drawings along for fun :(

OH MY GOD.

THAT'S WHERE THEY GET THOSE ARTISTS.

THOSE ARTISTS THAT CAN'T DRAW.

Was this how Land and Liefeld got their starts? I BET IT WAS.

It all makes sense now.

What I would like to know is whether there are any editors at cons who look at writing, not at art. I went to the Wondercon in SF a few years ago, toting around a bunch of copies of my comic script, trying to find an editor who'd read 'em - not there, of course, but someone who'd take a look at them and get back to me. I walked around for hours, and didn't find a single person who'd fit the bill. It was very disheartening.
Oh, and yeah, that poor kid. This was obviously his Dad's idea, and he wishes desperately that he was somewhere else. The experience probably turned him off comics for life.
