Seems like Tiny Titans could get so much out of it. Or better Art and Franco do the superdictionary 2009 edition.

off-topic, but something I keep wondering when I see that lineup...

If Robinson's got no real plans for Batwoman and Supergirl and put them on the lineup solely because he figured it wasn't a League without a Bat and a Super... why is Artemis or Donna or somebody not part of this little shindig? Diana's association with the League is probably stronger than Bruce or Clark's, having been an original founder.

Er, Batman and Superman have always been founders. They just didn't show up on covers because of editorial decree.

I should clarify. The Turning-Into-Trees picture that is the League's version of falling pearls or that stupid TKJ flashback has Diana in it (or for a while, Dinah). It does not have Supes or Bats. Clark's not in B&tB 29, and while both Clark and Bruce get lines in B&tB 30, they're not actually part of the story. And, as you say, the boys are never on the covers (or, particularly, in the first-page teasers, that I can recall). They were seldom in any of the other, non-tree-related flashbacks either, for a long time. That makes far more of a difference to what we're talking about here - association, thematic resonance, "what a League looks like" - than the theoretical roster. After all, the way you know "what a League looks like" is what you see on the pages and flashbacks and covers, the memorable splash pages and oft-referenced panels, and if the boys aren't getting page time or big battles or cover space, they're not going to be part of that image.

Probably the same reason Wonder Woman only has one comic and superman and batman have several. She isn't the greatest selling character these days. Not only has Supergirl been beating her numbers for months Oracle #1 beat both of them despite it only being a three issue mini. For one of the 'big three' that is pretty poor.

In Oracle's case, I think that's because it's an "event" comic. The first issue almost always sells well.

We'll get a more accurate perspective when Batgirl, Power Girl and Gotham City Sirens go out. No doubt Oracle was helped by the Battle for the Cowl banner but still mini's tend to do less well than ongoings.

Oracle #1 beat both of them

... that might be the single most depressing thing I've ever heard.

Silver lining, maybe DC will interpret that to mean that people love Oracle?

or people love the prospect of a cure for oracle

No, that would be the opposite of a silver lining.

My favorite part is that "nobody bought Beechen!Cass" got interpreted as "nobody likes Cass," right? There was this total, complete incomprehension of the idea that the actual content of the story and the portrayal of the character mattered.

And yet, mark my words, "everybody bought Vanhook!Oracle" will get interpreted as "everybody likes Vanhook's wannabe-Batgirl Oracle." Because despite the fact that that's completely inconsistent with the take on the Beechen failure (seriously, either the content matters or it doesn't), that's the conclusion that hurts the characters involved the most and is the most insane troll logic available, and thus it is the conclusion that will inevitably be made.

I still want to know who actually came up with Wednesday Comics, because it just seems implausible to me that the current Editorial regime is capable of an idea that good.

My rule is "The line of reasoning which concludes that Dan Didio made the right call will be employed." As a corollary, lines of reasoning which justify decisions made by writers hired/assigned by Dan Didio will be employed. This line of reasoning simultaneously supports Beechen!Batgirl and Gail!Wondy.

When discussing Marvel, directly substitute Joe Quesada for Dan Didio.

Oh my goodness, I literally laughed for two minutes solid at that image. Thank you.

I...think we need to start a petition.

You know, it occurs to me that Luthor looks too much like Kevin Spacey in that image.

All the red and blue streaks/outlining in that image makes me wonder if it's meant to be viewed with 3D glasses or something.
