Not that Wolverine isn't frequently a hypocrite, but in this case I think that maybe oversimplifying things.
Wolverine's done the whole "Murder Is Bad" thing with Jubilee, too. The idea is that Wolverine doesn't want his these young women to become what he is--a murderer. He's there to keep their rage and desire for revenge from causing them to do something they will regret, which is a struggle Wolverine has a lot of problems with himself. So the "Do what I say and not what I do" attitude seems to be something of which he is aware.
