Secret Six #8

Now the whole issue was rather pleasing, something about a double date with a 'no kill rule' involving a couple of people known for killing, though this is certainly what we were waiting for, amirite?

There's more in the issue itself and it might be the lack of sleep but for the block of time it took to read and for several minutes afterward I found it to be the most hilarious thing in the world. ;p

Heh. Go [info]amandeo.

Who's the picture on the wall below Mad Hatter, though?

*ponders* Tarantula, perhaps?

On an unrelated note, pictures of tarantulas come up when you google 'tarantula'. My brain didn't need a page full of hairy arachnids at the moment.

Mad Hatter? I thought those were the Pied Piper and Impulse. Kind of odd choices for Ragdoll, yes, but those are what the pictures look like to me.

Could this all be a metaphor for something?

You know, in reference to "men with small things compensate with big toys" and all that innuendo.

Probably not, as Rag Doll literally has nothing down there.

Maybe the 'phantom limb' sensation, like when amputees still feel their missing limb?

Well, he's apparently still able to get the delirious mental version of morning wood, if I'm reading that "hello there" panel right, so...

You are, but you may be misreading the panel immediately after it.

I'm pretty sure you're both reading it right in a 'that's the joke' way. Yes, it's an allusion to morning wood and yes, it's also the gearshift of his car/bed. Dreams don't have to make absolute sense or use any logic.

And because apparently google hates me at the moment I just found out that there are penis shaped gearshift covers that would cover both interpretations.

My point was mostly that there's probably no need to compensate for a nonexistent wang with impressively masculine objects when your wang continues to be functional even in its nonexistence. Ergo if the gear shift is a metaphor, it's a blatantly direct one - that's how he manifests his interest in sexual satisfaction mentally - rather than the more allusive "he's compensating" thing.

Which is really quite a bit more thought than I ever had any real interest in putting into Ragdoll's sexuality, but I guess that's what S_D will get you.

I'm glad the S-D community still lives on, even if my dad-blasted brain refuses to remember where it IS.

And my husband thinks Ragdoll's morning predicament is endlessly fascinating. HAR!

Aww, we won't put you in a home.
We'll just take you out on a long walk in the forest. That's Nature's way.

Or we could set her adrift on an ice berg/floe/whatever.

I've always wanted to do that, maybe not to her specifically but who am I to pass up such a chance?

That whole sequence, which I just finished reading was a thing of beauty. Kudos, and thank you.

And, as I mentioned to the folks at the store, Secret Six is a book I would not have discovered but for S-D...

I absolutely adored this issue! The Story proper, the Small-Sixer hallucination with Ragdoll!Sue (I bet not one of your is legal) and the Peeg preview, definitely worth dragging my butt to the LCS.

You know, after reading it, y'know what stands out to me about this issue?

How utterly displeased Zinda would be by a guy dishonoring the Blackhawk uniform by being such a sleazebag. I can't imagine her and Scandal would have much occasion to agree on anything else, but the need to pulverize that dude and his buddies was a strange moment of synchronicity.
