The line work seems to show its coloured from a con sketch or concept drawing. I think this was a great thing to do, I only wish they had shown Jim Mooney the same respect.

What I like about this pic, is that it's really beautiful looking, without being really cheescakey. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems a lot more withheld then a lot of the other pictures of Kara I've seen by other artists.

What is strange is that his pin ups of her are less sexy than how he drew her in the story

I remember in the Batman/Superman series that reintroduced the current version of Supergirl, Turner was also the regular artist and had her walking around in tight jeans with thong underwear sticking out, so I'm actually surprised he drew this.

Looks like all of her body fat has been concentrated in her boobs. That has to be some sort of medical problem...

You'd think that someone in their universe would have noticed by now... but I suspect that they don't mind. ;-)

It's rather surprising just how much art Mike left before his sad passing. Looking forward to this!

Still not my favorite artist by any stretch, but this is a nice gesture from the industry (I'd heard he was quite a decent guy in person, which sometimes seems increasingly rare these days).

That is the least Supertorso drawing I have ever seen by Turner. So props for that. However, note to the colorist: Using a photographic image of a celestial body in a stylized cartoon work of art is a serious amateur move, on the level of going nuts with page curl and bevel-and-emboss. It looks tacky. Cut it out.

It's a nice gesture, so it's a pity that the drawing itself is so wonky . . .

It's a nice gesture. It could have come across as exploitative, but actually, it doesn't feel that way, but appropriate.

I think it had come out when he had died and got lost in the dozens of tributes it perhaps would have felt more exploitative. The waiting and using it at this time feels right. I posted a link to an interview he the year before his death and he was saying how he liked doing things that lasted like he believed Supergirl would. It seems right he gets put on an anniversary cover of the longest running series featuring Kara as Supergirl.

Turner was a good artist, but his work is just not my cup of tea. His time came way too soon in any case, I wonder where I was in June that I didn't hear until now.

OMFG HELEN SLATER *DIES OF FANGIRL GLEE*
Heh, I read that as part of the solicit at first. But yay, I loved her a lot, to me Helen Slater was an ideal casting for Kara. I need to start Netflix up again and put Smallville in the queue, Helen as Lara sounds intriguing.

Just use pointy brackets ( < and > ) instead of square ones.
