Hmmm.
Philip Tan posted some uncoloured/uninked preview images of Batman and Robin 6 on his Twitter account.


Consider these spoilery....





It's a bit hard to see and Tan's art is a bit muddy, plus it hasn't been coloured/inked, etc., but I had a moment of FREAK-OUT in thinking that somehow Jason's face has been burned, mutilated or damaged. Please tell me you guys don't see that. Please?!!! DDDDD:



Looks like more Dick and Jason interaction....... (obvious comment is obvious.)

And this scan just to make everyone feel better....





Jason shoves his huge .......gun in Onyx's face. Methinks he is overcompensating.

Given Scarlett had a face/mask glued to her face by Pyg, I'd say it's more likely that it was ripped off, possibly by Damian.

That would make a lot of sense. It would explain Jason's poses (being held back etc.) but I don't think Damien would do it - he already feels guilt for not saving her to begin with.

Maybe he didn't know that it was fused to her face, so he yanked off the mask only for her face to come off as well.

Like that No-Face guy from the Battle of the Cowl tie-in based in Arkham.

I'm not really into the way Tan (and many other artists, I suppose, like Tony Daniel) uses black in his art. I mean, there's using black as shadow and reserving it for certain areas of a page, which can create some interesting depth and contrast, and then there's covering the entire page with black, which just creates . . . a page covered with black. I mean, not everything has a totally black shadow . . .

Yeah, the only thing that's making me freak-out less is I just keep telling myself Tan wouldn't post something that spoilery on his Twitter account.

And also Tan's art is muddy. But still. Makes me want to cry.

In a more serious note, remember how Jason mentioned he was supposedly getting acne and losing his hair because of the Red Hood helmet?

Wanna bet that it has nothing to do with it, and both those things plus the mutilated / damaged face are being caused by something else?

I have no idea what is going on. Haven't really been following Batman and Robin. Are we sure that Red Hood there is Jason Todd, as in our Jason Todd, and not pre-Crisis-from-another-dimension Jason Todd or something?

It is "our" Jason Todd, it's just Morrison is coughcoughnutscoughcough and decided Jason needed a minute reason to spite Bruce. As if he didn't have enough Daddy Issues.

Yeah, that's definitely Jason.

Makes perfect sense, because we all know that Beauty Equals Goodness, so clearly Jason has to sport a bizarre and hideous new hairdo and a horribly scarred face to go with his new child-shooting hobby.

In these difficult times of economic crisis, it's so nice of DC to help me spare money by making their comics so utterly and completely unreadable for me.

That's not necessarily true. Look at Ivy, who is often described as being incredibly beautiful. Or even Harley.

But seriously, if they scar his face, I'm gonna be writing PISSED letters to DC.

He was shot in what looked like his head at the end of the last issue. Going from this, it's posible the bullet grazed against the side of his face (you can never tell with a helmet like that) and the weirdness we're seeing there is blood.
I'm more disappointed that he isn't wearing a mask under his helmet.

Maybe it's... um... Two-Face? I dunno. I'm willing to wait and give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's just injured or dirty or something.

For the most part I'm enjoying this series very much, but I do wish Dick looked more like Dick in the Batsuit. He mostly just looks like Bruce in figure and posture. I'm sure it's hard to get character to show through that cowl though.

You know a friend and I were just talking about why haven't/whether or not the Black Lanterns would come after Jason for the whole "cheating death/resurrection" thing.

Would be interesting to see. But I'd hope it would be written by Johns b/c at least he knows how to write Jason.

I think a character being scarred/mutilated/face torn off is better in the comic world than being written badly.
