So No One Is Talking About This Yet? New teaser shot from SIEGE released today.

Pretty obviously Steve handing the Iron Man over to someone, presumably Stark although some doubt is being cast on that by fans.
The one thing that stands out to me is the combination on the safe. Are the numbers 399377 relevant? Or is that maybe how much I'm going to wind up spending on this event?

Methinks it was the reverse, Tony handing the armour to Steve.
Which would make sense, if only so that Steve can fight Norman.
Unless the Super Soldier Serum also...no. No, that goes a little to far.
Ah, sorry. Deleted my reply, since I kinda got things mixed there. Thought that people were saying that Steve was giving the suitcase to someone at that very moment in this cover, and that was just his reflection. So the "one of his hands is showing, so he'd have to have three" riff.
Too little caffeine. Have to refill the I.V.

I agree -- Steve's just taken off his mask and is still holding it, so whoever has the armor is clearly confronting him, rather than having just had it handed to them. I'm just not sure if the set up is supposed to be "let's you and me fight" (ie, the armor is being opened so it can put itself on), or if the person is planning to hand it over.
Why would Steve need both hands to give it to someone? The armour is in a briefcase, so I don't think it would have been a problem for Steve to hand it over one handed while the other hand is holding the mask. The reciever then proceeded to open it themselves.
Why can't I get the idea that Steve is putting on the armor out of my head?

Im getting it too, i think its the way the image is drawn, it looks to me like steve is opening the case and thats just his reflection we see
Now that I'm looking again, I think you might be right.
Or 349311. It's weird to write "7"s with the bottom line completely straight.
You have better eyes that I do. I couldn't tell if there was a bottom line on them or not.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why is the glowy on the back of the gauntlet?
My guess is artistic license, so they could work a arc-reactor-like focal point into the armor illustration without showing the torso piece.
I'm a little more curious as to when Steve started with the collagen injections. He's trying to out-lip Angelina Jolie there.

Yes, and both of these choices make me feel this piece is really incredibly badly drawn.

The concept is interesting, but the execution is a little sloppy. It would have been just as easy to draw the gauntlet as having been put in palm-up -- it's not like putting it in facing down is required.
Who says this isn't a new armour design, not the Extremis armour? It's not like Tony doesn't have a billion of them laying around.
So? Glowy on the hands has equaled repulsor or flamethrower on almost every armor since the 60s. Besides looking stupid, putting it behind the joint of the wrist at all, and especially on the back, makes it nigh-impossible to actually aim. And if the glowy this time isn't the actual repulsor, but some kind of power source for some kind of other palm weapon, then it still makes no sense, because such a huge power cell in such an unwieldy spot is just asking for it to get smashed and become useless, even discounting how much the rest of the arms' design would have to be altered to compensate for the extra weight on both wrists. Even if this is a new armor, the design is just stupid on any actual-use level.
Or it's just artist fail. Take your pick.
Really, it doesn't have to be either a repusor or a power source. And the only time glowy circle equaled power source was in the movie. In fact, Stark seems to make a point of making power cells not glowy in the comics. It's a glowy circle on the wrist. The only other time I've seen that on an IM armour was the Crossing armour's heavy duty repulsors, but those were part of a huge gauntlet. It could be a new forcefield projector or something.
I would LOVE for Stephen Strange to get the armor. A heroic Dr. Doom type (science + sorcery = awesome) would be so cool.
Stark did become the Sorcerer Supreme in one (or two?) What If...

Google search turns up nada..might be some silly thing, like how General Lane's bunker in Superman is "hell" in calculator talk.
This appears to be "LLEBHE". Maybe it should have been "9307" (LOEB)?
If the second number is 4, then in semi-leet speak it spells: EAGELL

Eagle = Capt America's sekrit plan!
AAAAH! IRON CAP FLASHBACKS! *grabs crucifix*
The more I look at this, the more the logistics of that case bug me. The armor is packed in there so inconveniently.
The bullets intrigue me though.
I'm very confused by what those top pieces above the hand are supposed to be. Well, confused if it's not supposed to be something dirty at least.
Looks like the thumb and joint of the "inexplicably put in sideways" gauntlet.
Another thing about this wierd-ass brief-case--where's the rest of the costume? You have the left and right hand (I guess, if you'll by that the suitcase is that thick even though there's evidence to the contrary), the mask, and the feet. They're completely missing the torso, arms, and legs of the costume.
See, this is another reason why they shouldn't have gotten rid of Extremis.
Tony's had collapsible armor that fit into an attache for as long as he's been Iron Man, but it always appeared somewhat logical, very compact, and the case would usually expand in some manner.
This...this just looks like Steve grabbed random parts and threw them in a suitcase and said "Here, fuck, I don't even know."
What,no comments about how fugly Cap's face looks? I'm sure it was lifted off some manga character.

Whose art is this, though? It looks like that Simone Bianchi character, but his faces aren't so... ill drawn.
I can see someone other than Tony Stark being Iron Man for a little while, as Thor is probably still ticked over the Thor Clone from CIVIL WAR *and* SECRET INVASION. Not much about SEIGE has stated that's Tony Stark back in the Iron Man armor.
Now the question is, who *could* be in that armor that Steve Rogers and Thor would trust implicitly? |
