I can't tell you how much I loved this issue. Scott being dickish (trying to distract the X-men by sending them off on a mission immediately after Wolverine's death) and sweet at the same time (letting Jean fall asleep in his arms, talking about Logan's loyalty while honestly admitting the man's faults) while inwardly still angry at Jean and Logan's love.
Claremont deliberately used some of the same wording when Scott arrived in Alaska, not merely because of a writing tweak, but recalling the time Scott was visiting Alaska with his grandparents and met Madelyne Pryor the first time. I have always felt betrayed by what they did to her later and the whole happy period seems poisoned in retrospect. Allowing a happy ending here again seems healing.
