Madame Xanadu breaks up a Halloween party where folks are trying to summon gods....
Halloween week.

You know I looked it up and there have been 4 different "Madame Xanadu" books ?

This was a cool wrap around cover. the art was reproduced on the back without any of the text. I recall my brother did an enlargement of this (using that grid method)

I also would say that the horns (the way they were drawn) I copied when I made horn masks of my own.

I remember this very well; possibly one of the single most dated Englehart stories ever, and that's saying something. And one of the silliest. I got the feeling this story got delayed a while, and was an inventory publication like a lot of those first mainstream direct-only comics(I think this one WAS the first). It would have made more sense in 1978 or 79.

A puppy? The solution to 70s decadence and junkiedom(the long-nosed dude is, I think I recall, a junkie) is a puppy?(and read the rest of the story--in some ways it's not that different from a few Jack Chick CRUSADERS comics, except without any conviction)

Though, having lived in the Bay Area when that performance artist was pissed on and sodomized with a bottle onstage at that Willie Brown event(look it up), I should amend that: I USED to think this was dated. Perhaps only depending on the city.
