I think it's made of Adamantium, which means unlike the real shield Thor will hit it and Taskmaster will go flying.

I've never seen it happen, but I know vibranium is part of Cap's shield and it absorbs impacts so a shield without vibranium in it should lack that benefit.

ll the whole point of the round shield is that it is con curve, not flat That absorbs impact. I thought Vibrainium was energy/sound wave related (?) Anyone ?

it also takes kinetic energy directed at it. I remember some fans being upset that there was some issue of Black Panther where it was mined like it was a normal metal

Did the real Thor Girl ever come back? I remember the Skrull one being offed, but stuff after that's kinda fuzzy.

Yeah Thor Girl was hanging out at Camp Hammond for a little while during the Initiative Disassembled arc. She was in the Doctor Samson and Alicia Masters "I was replaced by a Skrull" support group, talked to Trauma a bit and fought Ragnarok (the Thor clone, whose reappearance in Siege would be awesome). She then left the Initiative to find out whatever happened to the Asgardians and warn them of Ragnarok.

Gage said in an interview that we're to assume that all of the members of the 50 State teams who were held hostage and impersonated by the Skrulls came back and joined the Initiative (except for Blacksmith who was completely made up and thus wasn't impersonating anyone).

Beginning with the ravaging affects of Avengers Disassembled...

Quick question. When exactly did Loki take on the Scarlet Witch persona? Was he posing as her back then?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]neuhallidae
2009-10-17 02:42 am UTC (link)
If they do that now, it'll have to be a retcon, because it was pretty explicitly stated in Mighty Avengers that Loki had taken on the persona after the "alliance" with Osborn, because he (er, she then) thought a "personal set" of Avengers had the potential to be useful (and fucking up Osborn's plans would be fun).

Then again, Bendis never was one to pay attention to anything other writers were doing, so we'll see.

He took it on in Might Avengers #21, last year. He was not Wanda during "Disassembled" (he was, in fact, dead during "Disassembled", due to the Thor arc that was going on around that time).

Looks like Marvel's designers are taking a page out of DC's book (Final Crisis) for the covers. Even Cap pointing in that second one is just like Hal Jordan ring-punching us on the variant cover to FC #1.

I actually like the FC covers better. The red produced a sense of danger and the use of banners on either side of the image created the idea of a gate which the reader would have to go through or the characters escape. However prettily Asgard is drawn, the banner cuts away the image and seems to just shove everything into as small a space as possible.

But anyway. Thumbs down. I can't stand these attention-getting event stunts from Marvel, nor any stupid promises that nothing will be the same again.

Like Final Crisis, which (with the exception of Batman's death) was largely ignored afterward?

*sigh* The only person in any of these pictures who looks cool is Skeletor. Uh, Taskmaster.

And both Iron Man and Cap's nether regions are weird on the first cover.

But I might start picking up whichever Avengers title Steve settles in.

While I have enjoyed some moments of the looser storyline involved in Dark Reign and it's "flip the script" idea of having the villains in charge, the old fanboy in me hopes this is the return of big, bold, heroics by the goodguys to the Marvel U.
