For those first three scans, I'm wishing I had that "WTF is this shit?" picture from Star Trek, because I don't quite know how to respond any other way.

Give me two reasons to buy it that aren't "Mike Norton", "Bill Sienkiewicz", or "Toilet Paper/Firestarter" .

If Kreisberg didn't effectively use the Mia-Lian half of the book as a recap, then yes.

Yeah, uh, what was up with the "continued on the next page" that... um, wasn't? Is he even trying to write a coherent story?

Also I MUST KNOW THE SOURCE OF YOUR ICON.

I love, love, loathe that he puts the entire recap at the end of the book. BRILLIANT!

I liked all the art up until the very last panel. Lian is a deformed midget? Her face looks strangely adult.

The situation is a win, though! COOKIES.

CAN WE STOP WITH THE RAPES AND THE FEMALE VILLAINS BEING SEXUAL PREDATORS.

Also I don't think Mia looks like Mia.

while i agree that women can be sexual predators as much as men (and really its a fascinating twist from the Male sexual predator) ummm yeah.... we get it already....

Didn't Ollie save her from a rape, and that's why she's all obsessed with him? Is this supposed to be some kind of bizarre irony or something?

I'm not sure we know why she's obsessed with him. When did we see him rescue her from getting raped?

[info]bluefall

No, wait, I lied, he rescued her from getting beaten. It's a flashback at the very tail end of #15, and again at the end of #16 when she's all delirious and slicing herself up with arrows.

Or new plots badly handled?

Well it kinda looks like Mia if Mia is supposed to be about 45 years old now. Her neck had wrinkles in one panel.

The whole thing is just awful.

In fact, on that...

Can we just *quit* with rapes and sexual violence in comics altogether?

Or at least, can we have a total ban for a few months on, "We can take turns with Supergirl!" or "I've been retconned into being a rapist!" or "I want to fight Power Girl just so I can do her!" and similar?

Can the whole industry just *stop* for a little whole? Yeah, I get it, villains are evil and that bleeds into their sex lives as well. But after a point, it's just tacky.

Note to DC and Marvel -- you passed that point several Crises ago.

But it's so mature. Everyone knows that comics should tackle Deep Adult Issues like killin', rape, rapey killin', and sympathetic characters introduced for the sole purpose of having them raped, killed, and/or eaten, not necessarily in that order.

(Hey, whaddaya know, the Font of Sarcasm works here, too.)

I know it's cool to hate on Morrison at the moment, but he said it himself when he wrote himself into Animal Man #26. "It was done to make comics more adult. God help us all if *that's* what 'more adult' means."

(as wacky as the guy is, that is the reason I'll never not like him)

And it's just so tiring. It's done for shock value, but when it's shoved down your throat for so long, all it does is desensitize people. Which is the antithesis of shocking people into giving you their attention (and money).

I'm enjoying Blackest Night (even with all the gore, which I'm not normally keen on, even though yes, I knew this was a zombie story going in), but honestly? I'm at the point where, once that story wraps up, I'm out. Come and get me when the funny books have *stopped* trying to be cool and hip and adult and mature?

Over on Fanficrants every couple of weeks or so we get a rant pointing out that just because someone is a villain it doesn't make him evil about everything, such as sex. Bad guy X might be evil, but that doesn't mean he'll have his way with the hero/heroine at the first convenient opportunity. So its amusing that so-called professionals fall for the dubious idea of making everyone and his brother a rapist just like bad fanfic writers do.

As creepy as the whole thing is, I think the scene with Cupid with a mustache is just too much. A weird combination of sexy and utterly ludicrous. (Again, the image itself, not what's happening).

OH MY GOD, can this comic just move on to a different villain already? You know, I like the Arrow-Canary family, but I would never pick up this comic as long as creepy stalker rapist woman is in it.

I've been tuned out of this comic for a while now, and quite frankly I'm astonished that she is still in it. That's just tedious.

What I don't get is Didio said that Green Arrow is going to be the "book to watch" next year.

Maybe there's a new creative team lined up...but on the other hand, if there isn't...outlook not so good.

Once they decided on the marriage and a joint BC/GA title DC should have just kept Mia, Roy, Lian and Connor and Sin and made this the DC version of Fantastic Four (i.e. a family that fights super-villains together stays together!). Instead we have the dumb stalker getting more space than any of Ollie's sons/daughters/step-daughters/etc. Which is dumb.

Hey, at least those have the gravity of real breasts. (In fact, I am inpressed by the whole first page visually) It's not that often in comics I see a woman with a good body that looks like a real one.
