I'll just throw in that, as a Generation Y U.S. citizen and historian, I don't like seeing different wars (that were fought at VASTLY different times for VASTLY different reasons) all lumped together in some kind of ham-fisted, retroactive attempt at a flowing narrative to our history (which honestly is chaotic and schizophrenic as hell when you look at it all together).
I especially don't like that battles of military defense or aggression (which are DIFFERENT scenarios) are STILL being lumped together with the WTC terrorist attacks and images of americana (like a goddamn baseball game). What on Earth relates these things besides people suffering and "the enduring American spirit shall triumph over adversity!" message? It just reads as incredibly jingoistic and in bad taste.
The idea of Cap as an inspiring military leader and virtuous/moral U.S. citizen is great. The idea of him as Marvel's Uncle Sam expy? Not so much. I agree with above posters saying Marvel is trying to deify Steve too much.
