She’d barely left Enzo’s side since they’d arrived in this weird new world and Bonnie had hardly had a chance to process what had happened to them since they’d left the cabin. So, before she had to head to her new place of work, Bonnie decided to take a walk down by the ocean.
It was warm for the middle of autumn, though she suspected weather as she knew it back in Mystic Falls was a thing of the past. Atlantis? Bonnie still couldn’t believe that was where they’d washed up, despite the magic that abounded back in their home world. It was a long way from the Prison World, that was for damn sure! Besides, Enzo was here, which made it anything but a prison for Bonnie. She knew Damon was here too, somewhere, though she’d yet to speak with him. Would anyone else she knew turn up? All bets were off right now, literally anything might happen here. As she walked along the beach she felt a little of the tension she’d been carrying leave her shoulders. It might be strange here, but it was beautiful too and the soft breeze coming in off the ocean allowed Bonnie to relax a little. She still couldn’t believe that Damon had managed to lift the Huntress’s curse just as Enzo was on the point of being staked. The memory made her shiver despite the warmth and Bonnie wondered if she’d ever shake the feeling of despair and powerlessness she’d felt as she’d tried to kill the man she loved. How he could shrug it off and move on with life so seamlessly was beyond her, though it was one of the many things about him she adored. He lived for the moment, no matter what the moment might bring. It did no good to dwell on everything that had happened since she’d arrived, so Enzo had told her, and in an attempt to drag her mind back into the now Bonnie started to people-watch. She imagined what they’d do in this weird new world and started assigning them jobs and lives of their own, that almost certainly bore no resemblance to reality. She was just about to pack up and head to the bar when a face she recognised broke through the crowds. “Elena?!” Without a thought she was chasing after her, hoping not to loose her as she moved past the beach huts. A moment later she caught up to her and rested her hand on her arm, “Elena, is that really you?” she asked trying to catch her breath, which she lost entirely a moment later when Elena turned to face her. “Oh my God! You’re pregnant?” Bonnie was lost for words but she couldn’t help herself, “that’s amazing!” she said giving her a quick hug, “tell me everything!” |
