[The call to the Arena is silent, yet it pulls you there, like a string on your soul. It reels you into darkness. To the Arena, where the familiar golden light is missing. Where there lies only a black shadow, so deep and empty that it is less a simple lack of light and more like a dense fog of non-light. Yet the string pulls and you must go forward.

The familiar path to the Throne is eventually lit. Not with any normal torches, but with twelve circles formed of flame. Six flames to each circle, each fiery wreath the color of one team. These rings of colorful light provide reference points, but do little to burn back the dark blanket from the Arena itself. Those with good eyesight can just make out the figure on the throne, a human shrouded with a stone cloak, whose hood would hide the wearer's face even in full light. The figure itself touches the finger tips of each granite hand together, pyramided before it's nose, and in your next blink, has spread them wide, in offering. In greeting.

A heavy, low, masculine voice fills your ears.]

Welcome to you, newborns of this world. Welcome, you citizens of this metropolis of warrens. You, plagued with anamnesis, shuffling blindly along the shores of Lethe, you who are the desperate, the nameless, the pieces and the players. You, who chose to return to square one. You I welcome. Blanks - you I bid welcome.

[As the Judge speaks, the lights from the kaleidoscope of colorful torches begins to gradually increase, until even one with average sight can at least make out those around him, as well as the familiar crumbled buildings and dusty floor of the arena. Nothing has changed, beyond the addition of the torch-lit circles, and what lies inside the circles remains somehow hidden in thick night.]

No doubt you wonder who sits before you. What sort of Judge is this? What tasks lay in store for you at his hands?

Tremble now, Blanks, if your heart is frail. You have, each of you, been lucky so far. Left to meander, senseless between Games. The others have been kind to you. They have gifted you with their selfish and small-minded ways. Each of my brothers and sisters, caring only for their own interests. Do they understand the full picture?!

[There is a sudden shake in the ground, like the earth itself jumped an inch or two and settled immediately, but a low cloud of dust rises at your feet as proof of the quake's passing.]

No! They have left you, humble Blanks, to frolic with ease. Your worries are simple, your bonds assured. This game has long been set to 'Easy', but now that I am here, this error shall soon be corrected.
