Internet review/news? IDK guys. Go with it.
[On 15 February a 5 star yelp review shows up from Yelp Elite Reviewer "NYHedgeFunGuy156" for Mayflowers.
"Yesterday was Valentine's Day. I remembered it was Valentine's Day the day before yesterday, yes, yes I know. This was a tragic mistake on my part. But - have no fear. 1-800-Flowers same day delivery to the rescue right?
WRONG. I couldn't have been more wrong. They came in a box.
With instructions on how to cut the stems.
With a squished teddy bear.
And a dusty vase.
My wife nearly left me. Nearly.
So this this morning I phoned the first flower shop Google provided me with. BIG MISTAKE (See 1 star yelp review left prior to this one.)
So. Instead. I picked the last place google provided me with. And that place was Mayflowers. I phoned them up.
I'm not going to lie, they sounded a little surprised to be speaking to someone on the telephone, I think they thought I might I have been prank calling them at first.
And while I wouldn't say I had a professional experience, I certainly felt comfortable explaining exactly what happened, handing over my credit card information. And whatever it was they sent over to my wife at her office before she was off work that day saved my marriage. Thank you also for the next 15 years of outlook invitations for Valentine's Day.
I will never use another florist again in this city, and neither should you. I can't wait to schlep out to the East Village and weep openly and in person rather than just over the phone."
Over the next several days more and more similar reviews from more and more users, some new, some old begin popping up as well. Clearly there is a place to go in this city when you need to cut through the bullshit and get your act together....]
