It was fun, messing with Loki, who could say they sassed a god? Mai meant the snappy little comeback she gave the anon weasel, but she was also feeling progressively weary these days. The truth was, she knew that things were changing. At first she thought about going back to the doctors, but she didn't feel sick. It was something else, something she couldn't pinpoint. Her skin felt like there were tingles on it, as if her limbs were permanently asleep and needed to be smacked until they woke up. She tried that and nothing happened. Her nails did nothing to get the sensation out when she clawed at her arm. She kept getting jolts of static on everything, it wasn't like she rubbed her feet on a rug to get it done. Shit was going down, she knew that. The Avengers seemed like good people. She saw the movie, she talked to Cap and Widow, and she believed if Loki was locked up, it was for good reason. But she wasn't exactly ready to walk onto their doorstop when all she had to say was "things feel weird." She had no idea who else was at the building, not really, and she didn't plan on doing any of that anonymous crap either. Mai was trained in covert ops and how to lie, it didn't come naturally to her. She was in her apartment, the one the hotel just casually gave to her, and her hands felt like they were burning. There was pain, but she'd been through pain, a lot of it, in her days at the CIA. And the army. And just growing up with giant cousins everywhere. The problem was her next door neighbor was blasting his stupid music and her head was throbbing and she hit the wall loudly. "SHUT UP, YOU TAYLOR SWIFT LOVING A-HOLE!" Of course to her lovely request, it was turned louder. It was that Blurred Lines song and she thought she might about rip off the wall. She banged on the wall again, her burning hands hitting the plaster, and then she felt an unusual jolt zap into the plaster. But it didn't stop there. She could feel it pulsing inside of her and the electrical wires between them burned up. Without warning, the music just stopped. Silence. It was followed as she froze, her hands still burning, and then ... the building's power blipped out. "Fuck." She was too smart to be in denial, and when she looked down at her hands ... they crackled. A spark of blue light zipped from one finger to the next, and Mai all of a sudden got a very, very good idea of what the hell was going on. "Nope. Nope nope nope." She pulled on a hoodie, took her keys and her wallet in case she needed it later, and found a pair of gloves to pull on. Not that she assumed anything would help in this case. She had to figure out what to do, and that meant only one thing. Finding the only person she trusted enough to give her solid logical advice. DC Door, look out. |
