News: Marvel
[The news is just filled with stories of tragedy and grief in the last few days. Sunday morning, city fire departments battled a fire at a local church. The fire occurred during the Sunday morning service and claimed the lives of nearly 100 people and many others with serious burns and other injuries. Reports that surfaced Monday morning talk of a local man who set the blaze, claiming that those within were imposters and needed to be destroyed.

The New York City metropolitan area remains on lockdown with news trickling out about affected individuals in surrounding states and beyond. Officials have urged the public to stay calm and keep informed by television and radio stations, also encouraging those that are affected to report to one of the quarantine shelters. Due to law enforcement services being spread thin, violence and unrest are rampant on the streets. Dead litter the streets, public services overwhelmed by the sheer number, and affected people and looters make the streets a particularly dangerous place to be. Those unaffected are urged to stay inside to avoid further issues.

The CDC has made an official report to the public regarding the stages of the toxin.

  • Stage 1: Headaches, intermittent hallucinations

  • Stage 2: Confusion, fever, more persistent hallucinations

  • Stage 3: Lost periods of lucidity, seizures

  • Stage 4: Pain, no lucidity, death

Information from the growing number of deaths indicate that the time period from initial infection to death ranges from 7 to 11 days, with the young and the elderly particularly vulnerable.

The death toll continues to mount, and its no longer just the elderly and the young that are falling victim. People of all ages are not reported to have passed away in reports from local hospitals, and the numbers continue to grow as the days pass. Local churches fill with the devout and those seeking help from higher sources, even the church fire on Sunday not enough to empty out the seats.

Rumour of a cure continues to circulate, though public doubt is on the rise. Will it be soon enough, or is the city, and the rest of the country, doomed?]
