Connor took the phone with him just in case he needed assistance in finding the apartment Phillipa was in, and he locked the door to what he guessed was his place after he stepped out onto the porch. He also had the gun with him, tucked into the back of his waistband. He felt kind of ridiculous, but he guessed if someone wanted him to have a gun there was a good reason for that.

There was no one else on the street when he started down it, and he tipped his face up into the breeze as he walked. It smelled fine, but his preternatural senses (not to mention his finely developed sense of paranoia) said there was something going on. He just didn't know what it was yet.

There were several apartment buildings lining the street, and the Destroyer looked them all over carefully as he passed them by. He didn't see anyone that looked like they were waiting for him, so he kept walking. Finally he came to the last building on the street, and he stepped onto the sidewalk to begin the short trek up to the structure. "Phillipa?"
