[Log Kin and Janus on the bus] Who: Janus and Kin What: Who knows?? Where: Bus from Repose ----> Capitol When:1/24 8AM Warnings/Rating: PG-13 for language probably.
Paranoia was a useful thing. It made Kin keep her head low and her mouth shut when she wanted to mouth off to people for no other reason than to satisfy the urge. Purposefully getting into a barfight would be greatly satisfying and make her feel better about the world as a whole for a bit, better than a good fuck or heroine--hurting people filled a hole in her belly the way nothing else did.
But paranoia kept her in the quiet places of town, not quiet but calm and alive.
It also drove her to buy a bus ticket to the Capitol, she needed to get identification papers. Needed a second job or maybe even third, which would require the ability to cash paper checks, wanted to be able to go to the liquor store. Move out of the goddamn hotel and get some fuckin' privacy more than a room that shared two walls with other shifty people and a shared hall with a dozen others could do.
So her rough plan, if it could be called that, was to go to the Capitol. It was larger, easier to disappear if someone recognized her which she considered unlikely. They would also have a whole district dedicated to selling skeevy people like her under the table shit, anything she could think of. Hopefully. Last time she had been there she had been a wreck and got the hell out of dodge. Get out of hell before the devil knows you're there and all that.
So she didn't take the first available bus, because it would be more crowded with work commuters though she knew she would have been awake for hours. She missed the crowds and the noise of NY but not enough to deal with possibly having to share a seat with someone who smelled rank or snored. Her enhanced senses were more of a pain than helpful, including on crowded poorly ventilated buses.
Instead she took the eight AM, slung herself into the third seat back so it would be easier to get on and off quicker and because in her experience the noisy people sat in the back and bathrooms were usually back there on commuters.
Sketchbook in one hand and home made turkish coffee in a too large thermos in the other to compensate for the lack of sleep she took a deep breath and waited for the bus to take off.
