Okay, so the last time she had seen David it may have been under less than completely upfront measures. Claire had not set it up that way, though once she saw the train rolling, she absolutely made no effort to pull the brake. The water park had been a whole mess made from some weird Reposian comedy of errors that had ended in tragedy, and Claire was mostly positive that today would not wind up the same way. It was impossible to promise that nothing strange would happen, as the town was often wont to do, but if Repose was kind today the weirdness would wait until after lunch.
And, okay, so maybe saying she was not going to answer any more questions about her past unless they were asked in person was a very weak excuse to bribe him out to see her. Claire could recognize that. But he did not have to agree. David could have asked her about anything else and the conversation would have remained on the forum. Her preference for discussion over typing had not been a lie, though she was not often the sort to use that information like a weapon. Still she was here, and ready to be as open with David as she could.
Claire sat in the back booth to wait for David to join her, idly sipping on a nearly finished cup of black coffee as she worked on the crossword puzzle in today's newspaper. Her jacket was unceremoniously dropped beside her in the booth while she tried to appear like she was not waiting anxiously for him to show up. It may have worked if she did not turn her eyes to the door every time it opened. The crossword was a poor distraction, and the coffee even worse.
