Re: log: the diner - claire/david
The sleeveless shirt Claire chose was a point to show that she was indeed healed from her gunshots. The Inquisition had done enough to mend the flesh, but it was Misha that had healed her even better than she was before. Under any other circumstance, Claire would prefer to be more covered. But David walked in and she immediately felt less vulnerable in her booth.
David sat across from her and immediately threw down one of those questions that had her defending a killer once more. He was met with a few blinks as she tried to process, and then she chuckled warm beneath her breath. "Good morning to you, too." A smirk, but his question had not been entirely unexpected. She knew what David was, for the most part, and Claire was the person keeping him from doing what he felt he needed to.
The waitress. Coffee. Perfect. Claire put her cup out to get a refill, and she and the waitress held a silent conversation with only an eyebrow raise and a nod. Yes, she would have her usual. "And whatever he wants," Claire added without thought, her usual generosity showing through instead of the consideration that he may not have wanted much of anything.
She waited for the waitress to mosey off whether David ordered or not, in no apparent rush to put the order in, before she answered David's question. "He was a victim, but comparison is unfair. That weaponizes victimization. He was made to do something he otherwise would never have done by a sound from the facility that messed up the entire town enough to have to call in FEMA." So much for her ability to keep the peace in Repose. "He is not the only one to have been affected as such. There were others that lost control, and people died as a result. What goes on in the facility is dangerous." Claire was very biased against the facility and what happened inside, especially since one of her friends had been kidnapped by them to get a chip put into his head.
"This was an inflicted madness on the town that I could not stop like last time." There it was. Claire's martyr guilt. Nevermind that she had been riddled with bullets at the time, and by all accounts probably should have been dead. Whatever. There was a more pressing issue that nagged at the back of her head, "Do you eat?" She was very concerned with making sure people stayed fed, but she did not think that he would have to.
