What: Apple Cider.
Where: Bookstore/Cafe.
When: Friday.
Warnings/Rating: Most likely low.
After wallowing in despondency those first few days after Oliver left town, one might say Dietre started working overtime in an attempt to replace him. He found himself making an effort to comment to people on the forums, to engage in conversation with names unfamiliar to him. It had been a rocky start with Noah, yet it seemed the other man hadn’t been scared off by his morose behavior. No, in fact Noah confided in him his love life woes, and Dietre did his best to listen and give advice. It made him feel good after, to be trusted in that way. And so he spoke to more people, fumbling his way into possible party planning and ultimately an invite to meet up. Nerve wracking stuff, but he soldiered on. It was this or kill himself, and when one of your options is to die, you might as well just go with the other because what could it hurt? The bookstore was a place he did not visit often enough though he really should. He liked the quiet of books, the smell of coffee that permeated the air, the feel of leather bound special edition classics… The great love of his life was the piano, but a good book could make him cheat on her now and then. He’d always go back to those ivory keys in the end. He wasn’t here to browse, however, he stood anxiously by the line where the bookstore floor became cafe tile, waiting to be approached by whoever Caleb R. may be. Fall meant the return to his usual style and the fine clothes he owned prior to Quiet Home. He wore a dark charcoal turtleneck beneath a double breasted peacoat jacket, slim black pants, and black shoes. The ensemble enhanced his height and thinness, made his pale skin look even paler, but all in a becoming way despite the unhealthy weariness about his eyes and the nervous tension in his jaw. Dietre knew nothing about Caleb other than he liked poetry and had never been rude or mocking in his comments. He seemed decent, and Dietre tried to covertly search the faces of those nearby for signs of that decency. Even if he thought he found it, he was much too shy to approach. He’d let Caleb come to him instead. |
