Re: Bookstore: Caleb R/Dietre A
“Yes, a pleasure to meet you.” Caleb’s explanation went a little over Dietre’s head, though he was able to absorb the gist of it. He understood, too, being paid for one type of genre when you really preferred another. It was the same for him at the Carnival, the music he played there was not the sort he liked to play for himself. Having something in common, even as small as this, put him more at ease. His expression softened a little, losing some of that nervousness.
“I see… And does that happen often? Finding something you want to capture?” An genuinely innocent question that could easily be mistaken for flirtation, if one were so inclined. Dietre was worse than a novice at flirting, somehow managing to do a better job at it when he wasn’t even trying.
“For me, it’s the piano.” Fingers twitched as his hands laced together, as if just talking about playing made them itch for the keys. “I’m a pianist.” Poetry, photography, and pianos… Quite a lot of P words. Dietre considered trying to make a joke about alliteration, but didn’t have the courage to muster up an attempt at wit. Not yet, anyway.
Gray-green eyes flicked toward the cafe counter. “...Should we order?”
