Manifesting Desired Outcomes with a Vision Board/Treasure Map
I spent New Year’s Day with a friend creating a Vision Board/Treasure Map. For any of you who have made some resolutions or goals for the coming year, I highly recommend the activity if you have the time. ^__^ Creating a Treasure MapA treasure map is an actual, physical picture of your desired reality. It is valuable because it forms an especially clear, sharp image which can then attract and focus energy into your goal. How to Make a Vision BoardThe idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires.
I’ve found this highly beneficial for healing and personal growth.
For those who are trained in the upper levels of Reiki, this would be a great board for the Manifestation symbol (you can even trace it on the back of the images before you glue or tape them on the board). Even the Power and Distance symbols can help to enhance the energy of the board.

Mention of Reiki in Woman’s Day Magazine
In the June 1, 2008 issue of Woman’s Day their Health Advisory Board expert, John Pan, MD, answers questions about alternative remedies:
My friend swears by reiki. What is it?
Reiki means “universal energy” in Japanese, and the concept is that we all have energy flowing through out bodies. When that energy is blocked or low, it can lead to a variety of symptoms, ranging from pain in a specific body part to general stress and tension. A reiki practitioners (or “master”) channels energy and transfers it from himself to you by placing his hands above or lightly on your body. It might sound hokey, but I really think reiki works. In fact, we often use it in my practice. Some people benefit right away, but most people need two to three treatments to see results.

I've been noticing a thought lately within myself. It's not one I had consciously to begin with but I figured out what it was and why it was bothering me.
Sometimes I feel like I'm "cheating" by using Reiki on myself. I'm not sure why or what my mind would consider "not cheating" though. I guess because I just have to put my hands there and then things start to happen and it's not even my energy making it happen I feel lazy or something.
Maybe it's some unhealthy hangup about deserving or not deserving. But for example if I take a walk and then feel good then I feel like it's my hard work that made me feel good.
Any thoughts on this? I'm sure it's just something I need to get over and will. Anyone have any affirmations or anything?

Alternative Therapy Article
The January 21st, 2008 issue of the U.S. News
has an article “Embracing Alternative Care: Top Hospitals Put Unorthodox Therapies Into Practice” – with the cover story of the magazine entitled “Alternative Medicine Goes Mainstream”. There’s a part in there that talks about Reiki, along with touch therapy, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, and a host of other modalities.
I also heard recently from a friend that one of the Cleveland Clinic’s Pain Management Centers (at Hillcrest) is offering Reiki as a service, along with other alternatives.

Stones & Crystals
I thought I’d compile a list of gemstones that I’ve found really useful in dealing with overwhelming emotions. Remember to smudge and cleanse them, if anyone needs an explanation of that, feel free to message.( Click Me )
Intent is one of the most important things with having stones for protection and healing. You can have the stones absorb positive energy and continually recharge them with such.
If anyone else has stones & crystals that they use for emotional healing/protection, please share. ^__^

Reiki coupled with Pranic Healing
I attended a healing circle where we learned how to utilize Pranic healing techniques.
Using colors with pranic breath (breathing deep from your abdomen) you have to be careful because some colors can overwhelm a person. Light green is really good to use and you essentially visualize a ring of light green around white prana, projecting it forth from your heart chakra into your hands to the affected area on another person.
I found that my inserting the Reiki symbols within the white prana, visualizing them there in an off white – that the healing was heightened and that it provided a buffer for the intense energy.
I recommend the book Your Hands Can Heal You by Master Stephen Co & Eric B. Robins, M.D. Much of the writing is done by a doctor who uses holistic healing techniques on his patients and documents case histories.
It tells you about Pranic breathing, Energy manipulation, Energetic hygiene, Energy-generation exercises, a Self-healing guide, Meditations, Using colors, and much more.

Summer Healing Tip
For those who are trained to do "Violet Breath" I highly recommend trying the technique on anyone with a bad sunburn.
I had a friend who was peeling and quite red from their sunburn, so I gave them a Reiki treatment and got a nudge from my guides to try the 'Violet Breath' on their back.
The next morning they woke up with a perfect circle of non-peeling, less reddened skin where I had blown the breath.
Try it on yourself if you stay in the sun for too long or if you encounter somebody, give it a try. Or if you receive a treatment from someone who has been trained to the Reiki Master level, ask them to try the technique on you. ^__^

Animal Reiki: Using Energy to Heal the Animals in Your Life by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad is a wonderful book that explains how to utilize Reiki on animals.
It's filled with some lovely stories and is truly informational.
It has sections on dogs, cats, horses, small animals, farm animals, birds, senior & special-needs animals, and dying animals.
It goes through hands-on treatments and mentions body behavior to look for to determine is a distant treatment away from the animal is better.
The book also talks about Reiki in shelters, sanctuaries, and rescue organizations.
I highly recommend this book!

Reiki at the Zoo
I went with two friends to the Detroit Zoo and decided to utilize my energy around the animals on display at various exhibits. I was able to coax over a few interesting animals, exchanging Reiki for a photograph:( The Animals )
I have connections with various domesticated animals, such as dogs and especially cats.
I’m curious; does anyone else give Reiki to animals, their pets? Or has anyone felt their Reiki respond when around animals? Have you ever had an animal treated? Or seen someone work on one with their energy? Current Mood: thoughtful

As the maintainer/moderator of this asylum I’d like to extend a warm welcome to everyone who peruses the community. Feel free to join and post stories, questions, advice, etc.
Discussion is encouraged as are introductory posts. ^___^
A little about me:
I am an Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master Practitioner, versed in hands-on and distance healing. I received my attunements in person and hope to receive further training.
I use crystals when I heal.
I am also an empath, which aids in my ability to heal.
So, to start off with a question, does anyone else use tools or any other abilities as you heal? Know someone who has? Has received such?
