Favorite Song
I figured we could start off with something pretty simple...
What is your favorite song from Queer as Folk? Why is it your #1 pick?
I should just apologize now... I know it's not really a simple question! It's impossible to pick a favorite, but give it a try. What's the first one that pops into your head? What was the first one you had on your QAF playlist?
Why did you pick the one you did? Is it because of the scene in which it's used? Because of the lyrics? Because it makes you want to dance?
My favorite song is...
Ok, I'm really sorry. This is the worst first post ever. I can't possibly pick just one song!!!
My immediate gut reaction is to say that "Chiquitita" by ABBA is my favorite song. It was one of the very first songs in my QAF mix. In the end I don't think I'm in love with the song though, I just love that scene from episode 204... "Hey stud, wanna dance? I promise you won't forget this one."
According to my ipod my most played song is "Beware of the Boys" by Panjabi MC. It's from episode 402. Emmett and Mikey are back from the fairy gathering and Em's flame is burning bright once again. This song always makes me want to dance like Emmett. I think it's a really cool and different song so I include it in almost every mix I make... which explains why it has become the most played song out of all the ones I have on my ipod.
Really though, I think my favorite song, my #1 pick, would have to be "Proud" by Heather Small. "Proud" and "Sleep" (by The Dandy Warhols) are both used twice on the show and act as bookends for the entire series. We hear "Proud" in 101 when Mikey and Brian are on the roof of the hospital and again (but in a different version) in 513 when they are dancing at Babylon. "Sleep" is used in 102 when Brian tells Justin that he doesn't believe in love and again in 513 when he and Justin are trying on their wedding suits. See? Perfect bookends. Anyway, I love both versions of "Proud." In my mind it's the theme song to Queer as Folk and definitely one of my favorites from all five seasons.
