As the group of people dissipated from Lester's office, Connor felt himself pulled with the flow of people from the room and out into the low ceilinged corridor. The ARC was different now, it was distinctly recognisable as their base still, but the rooms and hallways had a different feel to them now. Everything seemed more locked down and secure; doors had very big and very obvious locking devices on them, cameras were poised and constantly moving to see into every possible space, and the light level was mich lower. Like the people they had returned to, the place seemed so much more sombre. Connor briefly wondered if things would ever return to normal again, when Danny's voice brought him back to the present.
"Of course he's him," Danny said with a strange confidence that Connor couldn't understand.
"He wouldn't know," Connor said matter of factly, though his heart sunk slightly as he did so. "If anything changed no one would know, except us."
He glanced at Abby, not sure if it was to reassure himself or her, but she knew what the Professor had said he had experienced when he returned from that anomaly all that time ago. Connor was all too aware now of the endless possibilties of changes that could have occurred in their time away.
"Anything we did in the past could have had an effect here in the present," he continued, voice quiet and serious. "Professor Cutter said that someone he knew ceased to exist when he entered an anomaly..."
Connor stopped talking and let his eyes fall to the ground, his last memory of the Professor seeming like such a distant one now. He'd tried to imagine what Cutter had been going through back then, tried to understand and believe him, but it all had seemed so impossibly complicated. Yet now, he was potentially facing the same thing. He looked to Becker, watching the soldier intently looking for anything familiar in him. The soldier seemed the same as ever; serious, stern and cold. Lester had also seemed the same, nd now maybe wasn't the time to be thinking about such scenarios considering the flurry of events that had occurred during the day.
"What is it, Becker?" Connor looked back to Becker, realising he had interrupted the other man with his paranoia. "Wait, where is Sarah?"
